View Full Version : Confusion and Defections Abound

I am somewhat surprised at what I am hearing and seeing. Sources from all over the country are reporting many men have already left. Still others have expressed similar intentions.

Amazingly, men from both sides of the debate are leaving.

but then we hear NO one is leaving..

what's the truth??

I can verify this.

I have seen many posts, elsewhere, that prove many are bailing out.

Sad.

from both sides?

I could never have imagined the absolute viciousness that has become the outflow of this past Friday. I have never seen so many good men hurt and disillusioned.

Men turning in their cards, abandoning their posts, and walking away from it all. Men from both sides of the issue.

There is a lot of angst presently.

I have heard numbers as high as 10% of the ministerial body will be leaving. That is over 900 ministers.

Somewhere on this site, I said 500 churches and 1000 ministers.

I hope i am wrong but it would not shock me.

this isnt the first (or the second) exodus. it may not be the last. It is sad that any have left but honestly it may be best for both those that are leaving and those that are staying.

Just keep repeating Paul and Barnabas.

10% is a lot of ministers Sham and Ferd .. but I had told my DS in my letter of resignation ... that the polarization was so deep that even when this thing would pass this year it woud not resolve a thing.

I have also thought of the scattering of the Christains at Jerusalem. I do not think this is all a bad thing. There has been so much disagreement in the organization for so long. If a splintering will help that and unify both bodies, maybe it will be a good thing.

I know of one DS who has told a man that said he is leaving the UPC that as soon as he does, the UPC of that district will be sending the finest candidate they can find to start a church in that community.

I also have to think that maybe this isn't all bad. There are areas of our country that I know many saints that have left the UPC for some reason. Either they got hurt from a UPC church or they think it is too legalistic. The UPC churches are 70 miles apart so if you have some issues with them there are no other churches to go to. I am not talking about church hopping. But if you have a legitamit reason to stop going to a certain church than you are left high and dry unless you move! Like we did. I see potential for the non-UPC pastors to go into these areas and start churches.

Talk about THREATS! Surely this is more rumor. If a DS actually said that, I find it SAD! Just because a man leaves the UPC does not mean one should intentionally "move in" for spite. If the man is still preaching truth, leave him alone.

What if there are saints in that church that don't want to leave the UPC and have no UPC church to switch to if he pulls out?

You know what is really sad? That the great men of God that are leaving or say they are leaving or let such controversies divide us, don't wake up and say "an enemy hath done this". We COULD have unity. We COULD have a resolution that would work for everyone if everyone was willing. But everyone has their agenda.

Resolution #3 is just absurd...who in the world came up with it and who in the world voted on it? Can the licensed ministers of the UPC really be trusted to running this org?

Res #4...Im fine with allowing churches if they want to to use this medium as we use others. I don't see why though we can't oppose worldly TV shows just as we might oppose worldly content on the net and not say "you can't have a TV or else" as we don't say the same with Internet. Whether we decriminalize TV or not is irrelevant. We should always be preaching and standing against sin. TV is just a box of electronics. It is NOT sin. We've made a big mistake when we made having a TV sin or just looking at one that is turned on a sin and not rather attack the real sin....the actual programming. We look backward and in fact we ARE backward when we knee jerk say all of it is sin when it is NOT all about sin just as the Internet is NOT all about sin.

I think we could have unity and not contended for our own personal differences. But the Devil does not want that. He wants disunity, fighting and discord and that is what he got....and UCs, Mods and Libs were all his gullible marks.

Divide Divide Divide...that's how war works. Divide and conquor. I wonder if that was how the first century church ended up being marginalized and virtually obliterated from history.....

I believe the GC part of the UPCI site lists the resolution numbers and if they passed or failed but does not have actual percentages. At least not the last time I looked which was the day of the voting.

I can't find them.

But I did find this interesting tidbit:
Ballot process is continues to be discussed and explained. A motion is made to count the voters before voting begins. Defeated

Oh, you must mean "Business Meeting Updates: From the Floor". (1074 posts, not 1800, so took me a while to find it.)

I've found res 3, so far. The others are there, I suppose. Thanks.
