Did anyone see this? Was it used during service? Evidently there was a confetti cannon of some sort that went off whenever they reached certain donation levels.

Saw it ... had no issue w/ it. I love visual effects.

Did Paul have a confetti cannon? We need to return to the old paths, my friend. I weep for our future. :(
Do you know all the bad things cannon's have been used for over the centuries? Do we really want to be associated with that?
j/k :D

I started weeping when the church allowed PA systems, microphones, and the business suit ... I imagine Paul seated, with a child sitting on his skirt, teaching and preaching w/o having to enhance his voice, while still boring the backsliders on the back pew to sleep.
I take that back ... pews are of the debbil - especially THE BACK PEWS.

Sheltie Dad,
All this type of thinking has caused us to be bound for years...I know you were just kidding but the money making stuff drives me crazy. It is all I can do as a single professional to pay my bills without emotional pleas every time I turn around saying God will bless me if I don't pay my electric bill this month.
Did I say I hate money making schemes and pitiful pleas for more money all the time. The Bible says.."The poor ye have with you always..." I bet it is because they believe the prosperity doctrine.

I withdrew from the NRA for the same reason... I got tired of paying to be on a mailing list so that they could ask for more money. I'm also leery of joining the American Legion and some other organizations because I figure they will be the same way.
My charities of choice are Texas Children's Hospital and the Houston Sheltie Sanctuary. :D

ShetlandPonyDad,
You obviously missed your calling as an old time Pentecostal preacher! You have their circular logic down pat.
Of course if these guys wanted to be TRUE conservatives they would ban microphones, amps, and speakers since Rock and Roll music concerts use those. They should be "unworthy of the message" just like TV is according to Coonskinner.

Raising money is absolutely essential. I thought the way it was done this year in both Foreign Missions and Home Missions services was rather novel and in the case of Foreign Missions seemingly very successful.
I`m not sure how the Home Missions offering turned out.
The confetti cannon was cool. :D

I like all the fancy schmancy stage and studio lighting, spinning mirrored balls and the like that UPC conferences have going nowadays. I just about fell out laughing when a popular evangelist said one time, "Either get that red light off my face or give me a BB gun to shoot it out!"
