Coop, I got a feeling it still ain't gonna be enough change to make you happy. And even if it were whatever in the world would you complain about then?

How can one say they love the UPCI, and yet refuse to attend until it changes to meet ones criteria? That, IMO, would be a false statement.

Coop should be allowed to express his opinion. He's not trying to be hurtful.

It's another "git a rope" thing...because he doesn't necessarily agree with certain issues.

I was disturbed by what happened to his previous thread.

Sure he can express his opinion. That is what makes a Forum.

Of course, we can express our opinion about his opinion. That is what makes a Forum better. :hypercoffee

Ah! But there's the rub! We need to be careful to express our 'opinion' about his 'opinon' and not about the man himself.

One is correct dialogue, the other is just belittleing. :thumbsup

Coop..get a grip my man. Just cuz a little over half of those voting had the sense to see we were about 60 years behind the times. This only move us up about ten years,

We will continue to operate, think and dress aproximatly 50 years removed from what ever culture we are in. :hypercoffee

I must say that while I am not UPCI the church I attend is. I love the UPCI, it is what I was raised in. My pastor and I share the same thoughts and that is this, Great days are ahead for the UPCI because the resolution passed.

I pray they will try to look better. The last church I attended I was scared to death that the Pastor would put us on TV. Not because it was wrong but because of what the people on the platform were wearing. I'm not talking about the need for shorter skirts or sleeveless shirts I'm talking about basic color cordination. We would have 3 normal looking folks and then BAM, an orange suit or some shirt that belongs on a cruise or a suit with enough buttons it could have been a straight jacket. It was so embarrasing! I would think to myself please Lord don't let us go on TV looking like this. The Lord answered my prayers.:choir

So, does this mean your coming back?

So, does this mean your coming back?

I know you were asking Coop but I will pretend you are asking me. I think my former church will go so ultra con that they will leave the UPCI and then my church will become the local UPCI representative........... After the district begs us to come back.........and begs some more........... and then begs with sugar on top.:friend

The UPC will always be a conservative organization, so I think they will gradually move to within 10-20 years behind times. In the next twenty years, they will gain over fifty years! :)

Eastman, I would like to go back.

But the truth is, my family are not standards keepers.

Then why do you care that the UPC passed the resolution, or that it is making a change for the better as you would put it? just curious.

Making a change is good, it gives me hope that other issues will be addressed.

I hope to see more Oneness churches that do not teach the old UPC standards.

Sinners and ex-upc saints and upc backsliders need a good church to attend.

If UPC would accept that dress codes and hair issues are not important there would be a great healing.

UPCI is my spiritual family. It would be nice to come home and see a change of love and acceptance.

The truth of Acts2:38 is a precious gem. Standards are not the word unto salvation.

There needs to be tolerance for non standards saints that believe Acts2:38.

These saints have faith and the gifts too.

I can stand up to the critcs. Since my family was UPC for 40 plus years.

I am not against the UPC.

I will however speak when others open the subject.
