Three former Oral Roberts University professors have amended their lawsuit against the school, and have included an internal report detailing allegations against ORU President Richard Roberts, his wife and others.

The new suit adds a new defendant to the case -- the ORU regents -- and two new allegation, negligence and civil conspiracy.

Oral Roberts University officials, including President Richard Roberts, declined to comment after hours on Friday because they had not seen the amended lawsuit, a spokesman said.

The new suit includes a new allegation that Richard Roberts and ORU gave ''a convicted sexual deviant unrestricted access to the students of the university.''

The suit doesn't identify the person, but says that prior to his association with the school he had confessed to crimes in Tulsa, Tulsa County and Payne County.

''All three allegations of sexually-deviant conduct resulted in convictions,'' the suit says.

The person was hired at the direct personal instruction and under the supervision of Richard Roberts, the suit says.

The person, identified as a ''Mentor'' for ORU students, ''confessed to the facts regarding exposing himself to a fifteen year old boy in a school locker room,'' the suit says.

The suit also alleges that three days after the original lawsuit was filed earlier this month, the school's financial comptroller, a 26-year ORU employee, was fired.

''Within hours of this loyal employee's unceremonious removal from his office, witnesses have reported that voluminous materials and documents were shredded and destroyed....''

The new suit also includes a copy of a report one of the fired professors allegedly gave to ORU officials shortly before he was fired. The report says it is a Scandal Vulnerability Assessment and was prepared by Stephanie Cantees, Richard Roberts' sister-in-law and the community and governmental liaison for the Oral Roberts Ministry.

The report, which purports to be prepared by Cantees, misspells her name.

Most of the elements of the Cantees report are similar to allegations in an early version of the former professors' lawsuits, but more details are added to several of the allegations, especially allegations involved Lindsay Roberts and an unnamed teen boy.

The report says that dead-bolt locks were installed on all bedroom doors at the Richard Roberts residence at the insistence of his oldest daughter.

''This was precipitated by Mrs. Roberts repeatedly moving into the home her 16 year old male 'friend,' which made her daughters uncomfortable,'' the assessment says.

The assessment also says: ''Mrs. Roberts has personally spent the night in the ORU guest house with an underage male on nine separate occasions.''

The report also says there are photos of Lindsay Roberts and an underaged male smoking at the president's residence, and 29 photos of her and an underage male alone in her sports car after midnight.

The assessment goes on to say a longtime employee was fired so the same underage male companion could have the position.

The assessment also gives details concerning an electronic message Richard Roberts allegedly ordered ORU employees to post on the Mabee Center electronic marquee for his daughter, Chloe.

The message read, ''Matt, I sorry. Love, Chloe,'' the assessment says.

The report says the school received a total of 32 complaints about the message.

Oh man, this is so bad.
I really believed that the text messages to an underage male probably came from one of the daughters, not her.

And who? pray tell was taking those pictures?

yikes

This is really bad! However, every single one of those salactious allegations could turn out to be false, and yet Richard Roberts brought it on himself by firing someone just for giving the report to the Provost and Regents to investigate. He should have stepped off his man-made throne and allowed an investigation, and if/when the allegations were all proved to be false, he could have "suggested" to the professors that "they might be happier elsewhere," and they surely would have taken the hint.

But when you go off on a power-hungry rage, this is what happens!

Nowhere in the Bible does the Lord guarantee that those doing His Work should get a tax-exempt status. According to this article, hundreds of tax-exempt ministries may now come under closer scrutiny by just about every kind of authority there is: IRS, state, local police, etc. And those that are found wanting shall be destroyed, only the true shall remain.

WOW!!! No big surprise. I worked at ORU and was disgusted from day 1. On my very first day, I saw the youngest Roberts daughter, Chloe, driving a Lexus SUV, when she was 16 years old!!! And Lyndsey driving a little red german sports car!!! And Tricky Dick with his entourage of cronies!!! Showing up at athletic events like he was the "King of the castle".

Richard Roberts is no more a holy-man, than I am the president of the United States. He's a preacher's kid (if you can even consider his daddy a preacher & not a crook/quack), that noticed that evangelism was where the money was. PERIOD!!! He was lazy & arrogant, and saw the way to make an easy buck. Riding daddy's coat-tails has brought him riches beyond most people's belief. And, now, his arrogance has brought about his undoing.

This whole debacle can be explained a very simple way. He & his (explicitive deleted) family thought they were above earthly & divine laws. And the idiots that have put up with their nonsense for so long should be ashamed of themselves. They've allowed this to happen. Just like they allow unqualified people to work in positions of power/stature at the university. Did you know that their hiring practice gives preference to ORU grads? Not really unheard of, but consider this. There are more than a dozen "professors" or "instructors" or "administrators" that have no higher than a bachelors degree. And that degree came from ORU. Not to mention that there are employees in one department that don't have so much as a bachelors degree, but are now in administrative positions, b/c "they've worked for the school for years, paid their dues, and deserve to be in charge." YEAH!!! In that same department, they've employeed someone for the better part of 40 years, and that person has never had to stay current with the guidelines or standards for their profession!!! It's a joke!

AB,

Here is why they have so much evidence against them.
Lindsay's sister had a student come over and work on her computer.
The student discovers Emails from Lindsay with damning evidence.
the student downloads the emails and information and takes it to the provost and board of ORU!!!!! It's not good at all.

It was reported that students are beginning to slowly leave too.

anyhow, this could end up being on par with the PTL scandal of the 90s

I will say this - If RR goes back on Larry King or anything else - he needs to leave her at HOME! She looked plumb goofy on there nodding her head up and down and interrupting him.
At least Joel Osteen had the sense enough to take his pretty little wife off the scene after the airplane incident. I don't think she was even at fault - but just to keep things from getting out of hand - he took the forefront and put her in the background for a while. WISDOM!
Poor Lindsey usually looks like she was in a tornado on their show.

as much as this is truth, all she really is, is the wife of they guy who runs the place.

from a 'christainity' perspective, the more disturbing thing is that "the Guy" seems to be both covering up the sin, and ALSO ENABELING IT!

What gives????

Richard Roberts taking Leave of Absense from ORU!!!!!!Richard Roberts Taking Leave Of Absence From ORU

Tulsa - NewsChannel 8 has learned Oral Roberts University President Richard Roberts is taking a leave of absence from the university.

Roberts, who has recently been named in a lawsuit brought by three former university professors accusing wrongful termination and lavish spending on the part of himself and his family, is taking a leave from the university, but will continue his ministry work and will host his regularly scheduled television show Wednesday night.

The professors also accuse Roberts of trying to use the university to help the campaign of a Tulsa mayoral candidate last year.

Roberts has denied all of the allegations and told NewsChannel 8's Cindy Morrison the lawsuit is full of misinterpretations and innuendo. He says the suit is all about money, blackmail and extortion.

Oral Roberts University President Richard Roberts issued a written statement on Wednesday saying he is taking an indefinite leave of absence, following intense scrutiny spawned by financial, political and other allegations raised in a lawsuit.

This announcement comes eight days after Roberts said on national television: "I have not done anything wrong for which I needed to step aside."

"Today, I have asked the board of regents of Oral Roberts University to grant me a temporary leave of absence until such time as these matters can be resolved," he said. "I have prayed about it and feel that it is in the best interest of my family and the university."

Roberts said the allegations -- particularly "untrue allegations of sexual misconduct by my wife" -- "have taken a serious toll on me and my family."

Roberts said he "fully trusts" the board and said, "I pray and believe that in God's timing, and when the board feels that it is appropriate, I will be back at my post as President."

"Meanwhile, I will give myself afresh and anew to my family, and to prayer and the Word of God," his statement continued. He will stay on as chairman and CEO of Oral Roberts Ministries; will continue his work on television; and will continue to teach, preach, write letters and books, and meet people's needs, he said.

Roberts praised the academic and spiritual education students receive at ORU.

Here is Roberts' statement in full:

Statement issued by Dr. Richard Roberts, Wednesday, October 17, 2007

The last 3 weeks have taken a serious toll on me and my family. The untrue allegations have struck a terrible blow in my heart. The untrue allegations of sexual misconduct by my wife have hurt the most. It has broken her heart and the hearts of my children that such untrue allegations could be made. Lindsay and my children have sustained heavy damage these last weeks. God is very interested in the family unit and so am I.

The plaintiffs have said "We don't know if any of these allegations are true, but they are so defaming that the Roberts won't survive." We Roberts have a strong faith in God and in what is right. We will do what is right and trust the Lord.

Today, I have asked the Board of Regents of Oral Roberts University to grant me a temporary leave of absence until such time as these matters can be resolved. I have prayed about it, and feel that it is in the best interest of my family and the University.

I have a tremendous love for the students and alumni of ORU -- they are precious to God. They came here to get a quality education and to learn to hear the Voice of God. That's happening daily. Even today, other young people around the world are searching for the right college to attend. I pray that they will consider ORU. This university is academically sound, spiritually alive and physically disciplined.

I don't know how long this leave of absence will last, but I fully trust the members of the Board of Regents. They are great men and women who have a deep love for this university and for me and my family. I pray and believe that in God's timing, and when the Board feels that it is appropriate, I will be back at my post as President.

Meanwhile, I will give myself afresh and anew to my family, and to prayer and the Word of God. I shall continue my role as Chairman and CEO of the Oral Roberts Ministries. I shall continue on television as I have a burning passion for the lost, the sick and the hurting of this world. I shall continue preaching and teaching God's Word and drawing people to Christ our Savior. I shall continue to write letters and books and minister to the needs of people for I have a passion for souls. Thank you for all your prayers and support; it means a great deal to me and my family.

I think this will be settled out of court with the stipulation that neither party can divulge the terms of settlement.
Then, in time, things will cool off and it will get back to business as usual.

Regent vows to make any needed remedies

The chairman of Oral Roberts University's board of regents told students in a chapel service on Wednesday that any corrections that need to be made at the university will be made.

Chairman George Pearsons, co-pastor of Eagle Mountain International Church in Newark, Texas, said regents have approved of an independent investigation into allegations made against ORU last week in a lawsuit.

"Honestly, every organization has problems," Pearsons said after the chapel service on campus. "If there's something that needs to be fixed, let's fix it."

Pearsons personally apologized to students for the tumult they have gone through over the lawsuit. The suit, filed by three former professors, included unsubstantiated allegations that ORU President Richard Roberts and his family misspent ORU and Oral Roberts Ministries money -- claims that Roberts and his wife, Lindsay, have denied.

Pearsons prayed for peace at ORU, and he asked students, "Will you forgive us?"

They answered loudly, without hesitation, "Yes!"

"Together, we're going to get through this," Pearsons said.

After the service, sophomore Jenise Davis said the sermon by the Rev. Billy Joe Daugherty of Victory Christian Center in Tulsa was "the starting point to our healing process."

Students have grown disillusioned, concerned and mistrustful of ORU administrators since the lawsuit's allegations went public Oct. 2, she said. Now that they have heard administrators' responses to the lawsuit, students need a chance to give healthy feedback to administrators and restore communication and understanding, she said.

Daugherty encouraged the university and students to recenter their focus on ORU's original mission: to evangelize and "present the love of Jesus" "where the light is dim, where (God's) power is not known, where (God's) voice is heard small."

Most people in the world concentrate on what is immediately before them, Daugherty said, but he told the students to have a broader perspective and look instead to the "harvest."

Daugherty told students that after leaving ORU's board of regents in mid-June, he had accepted an offer this week to rejoin the board because "my heart has always been here at ORU since the time I first came" as a student.

"We know we have some difficult days to walk through at ORU," he said. "Jesus wants you to know he is going to speak to you. Get your eyes on why you are here."

At the end of the service, students surged to the front of the auditorium as Daugherty offered to pray for them, and they raised their hands and turned their faces upward, singing to God, "All I am is yours."

As a graduate of the seminary ('91) I'm not at all surprized by these allegations. They have a 'ring of truth' to them that is all too paifully familiar. The Robert's conducted themslves like royalty and the students were unimportant prolls when I attended. They are just caught up in the 'cult of personality' of protestantism. So sad.

There is one.... then there is...

I'm so tired of scandals in word of faith, prosperity teaching, and charismatic churches, or schools in this case. And it's not just an "attack of the enemy" so to speak. Of course there are scandals in other denominations and every organization, but there's something wrong with these doctrines. They just open the door for this stuff when they are constantly having to justify their lavish lifestyles.

Pastors Billy Joe and Sharon, to their credit, have always lived and presented themselves modestly. I honestly don't know if the board at ORU deserves their name at this time, though, the university will benefit from their involvement.

I never observed them on campus but what I did observe I think spoke louder then being on campus....We were at a banquet... in 96 I believe... and there were students that had been invited. Mostly seniors... and when they would speak to Richard or Lindsey... they would just shove them off... as if they didnt even know them... to speak with the dignitarys and others who were there,,,, As if they were lower class citizens compared to them...
