View Full Version : Higher Ground Music Conference at TBC
It's taking place this week
Anyone going ?? I went last year and enjoyed being there.
This is only the second Year and they already have 260 registered!that's pretty good
This will be a conference for the conservatives and also for those who don't care for all the ultra maranatha music they doing at IBC.
They have a list of really good classes
there's one clinician named Ron Wofford who is doing a class on "dealing with change". I would like to get that CD ! ! loll lol

Is TBC still open??
Why do you say it is only for conservatives?
Do you think IBC does a lot of Maranatha music????
Who else is speaking at this conference?

TBC is still open- it moved from Houston to lufkin
TBC is known as a conservative Bible school. Bret Cooley is president and he is VERY Conservative!!!!!!!! his wife DEDIE is referred to as " the first Lady" of TBC
from what I have been told by those who have attended IBC last year, 90% of their music has been P&W , acoustic maranatha , etc and not much gospel at all
there were a few moderates teaching too like kevin howard and kim ballestero

I for one do not like the Maranatha guitar stuff that seems to be so popular now. I get nothing out of it. Give me some good jammin hammond organ playing anytime!

Trust me... TBC is alive and doing well. I just preached there a few months ago at the request of a 'friend'. They seem to have a 'bumper crop' of fine young adults there this year.
I think TBC is doing great... and has some great instructors.
And, for the record, I really don't like most of the Hillsong stuff. Don't really know what 'genre' that fits in... but it's definitely not my favorite.

BUMP for the sheer irony of it...
Just got a call from TBC wanting me to potentially preach in Ken Bow's place at this Music Confence. Seems he may not be there due to a health issue with his father.
Alas, it's impossible for me to speak at it as I'm going to be at Scott Graham's new Church dedication in St. Louis.
Perhaps I should 'recant' my earlier claims; if they are desperate enough to have me preach again they may not be doing as 'well' as I thought! :killinme

HEY HEY, just because there using acoustic guitars in Lufkin, doesn't necessarily mean there doing Hillsong or modern worship.
This is in East Texas.
You forgot to include the accordians, harmonicas and banjos in the scenerio! :tease

Good to hear about TBC. Listen, if a bible school can stay afloat and equip young people with knowledge and training, go for it.
As for Hillsong, I don't like a lot of the songs they do. However, there are some good songs that are written. A heavy dose of it, I could not take. But, to sing one of their songs here and there....yeah.

"You have turned my mourning into dancing. You have turned my sorrow into joy."
"My hope is in the name of the Lord, where my help comes from...You're my strength my song."
"Shout to the Lord, all the Earth let us sing...Power and majesty, praise to the King."
...just a couple.

Here's more...........
Eagles Wings; For All You've Done; Shout Unto God; From the Inside Out....

No problem with many of the songs but the vocals are a train wreck!

I will be there Wednesday Night - and then back in Lufkin for Thrusday and part of Friday. Texas District Conference is going on at the same time - not sure if the Thur night service is just one - for both the conference and misic conference or two separate - but between golf games I will be there.
