Isaiah 54: 16-17
16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
I've always read verse 17 without really seeing verse 16 - which makes it make much more sense....
No matter what the devil tries, he cannot destroy me as long as I'm a child of the KING! God made the devil, HE Is in control....they are NOT equal as in good vs. evil..
anyway, just thought I'd share, it might hit someone like it hit me..
sorry I'm not a great orator that could expound on the text and make my post make much sense...

The devil is the opposite of Michael the archangel, AT BEST.

One extreme is always the opposite of the other extreme. Just look at the standards threads!!! LOL!
You know, when you make a claim that you don't believe there's anything wrong with women wearing pants, that means you allow bikinis in the pulpit!! When a woman cuts her hair, she also advocates shaved heads on women! Wearing jewelry means you look like Mr. T, and wearing makeup means you look like a Jezebel whore!
So yes, in that respect, the devil IS the opposite of God!

well the bible calls the devil the god of this world, so using that verbage he is a small insignificant little , teeny weenie, god in comparison, to Jesus, the God of the Universe, cool, dt:hypercoffee
Amen, Sister Theresa.
God is creator.
The devil is creation.
God is our Father ... the Father of Lights.
The devil is the father of lies.
God is the I AM.

Something about the way you said this gave me chills when I read it.

Good vs Evil is not "equal"...Being Opposites is being UNequal.
God and the Devil ARE indeed opposites. Satan has no power but God has it all. God is GOOD, Satan is evil. God is truth and light and Satan is lies and darkness

Amen Theresa.God is not equal in power.
Satan could not have made the hell that God has waiting for those who
live outside of His word.

Amen....which really would make the Devil the opposite of God.

Why did God create the waster to destory? The smith that blows the coals? What is it that God is going to destroy?
