View Full Version : Mrs. CC1 Very Happy Today!
We have lived in Nashville for more than eight years now but almost never make it to the tons of gospel, country, and other genre concerts that are abundant in Music City.
A few weeks ago my wife found out that her favorite group of all time, The Eagles, is going to be singing at the CMA (Country Music Association) Awards here in Nashville next week.
My wife has always dreamed of seeing the Eagles perform in person. She spent a day at Timothy Schmidts house in CA years ago when he and my daughter co wrote a song but has never heard The Eagles group in person.
When we checkd into tickets I was shocked to find out that the least expensive tickets to this awards show is $160.00 per ticket!!!!!!!!!
That ruled out buying a ticket so we checked around to see if some of our friends in the music biz had any connections to get her a ticket.
Today Mrs. CC1 got the telephone call she had given up on. A friend of ours has come up with 2 ground level tickets FREE for her and her sister!!!!!!!!

She ordered it over a month ago directly from The Eagles website. Doing that gave her an entry in a contest to go hear them somewhere. She was mad as a hornet though because she did not get it until today, five days after she could have bought it at Wal Mart. If they had any sense they would have mailed them to arrive on the release date like most places do.

For real! I pre-ordered mine from Wal-Mart and received them two days after they were in the store. The only plus with this was they gave you a free download of one of the songs.
The CD's are awesome!

The eagles are one of the few groups I know of that can write both country and rock songs and have them become hits!
I wore out three 8 tracks of hotel california when it was first released. And YES I DO mean 8 TRACKS! (For those that do not know what an 8 track is...look it up on wikipedia)
They have been in the music business a long time and are a classic group like led zepplin or other classic rock bands. So it is no wonder the ticket prices were so high. You should see what the ticket prices are to see led zepplin in the UK for that one time reunion concert performance!
But they produced hit after hit and were not just a "one hit wonder" group.
Even though I am not going to their concerts anymore...I still respect them greatly for their music. They not only have talented writers, but musicians and singers as well.
Joe Walsh wrote a really neat song about him and his alcoholisim and that he blamed no one but himself on one of their music videos. He seems to be recovering from it and I wish him well, but it just goes to show you that there is a price to pay for living that lifestyle.
I only wish that HALF of the music produced today was anywhere near the quality of what the eagles and other "classic rock" groups as they are known by now, did back then. But sadly it is not. Not even close!

webe123 - you've got that right!
I have listened to their new CD's all weekend and the quality and talent in each song is incredible!
To have so much talent in one group is unheard of in any groups in the past 20 years!
I have three favorite songs so far on the new CD's..............or maybe that's 20 favorite songs!
