View Full Version : Need music
I've been posting my request in the wrong place. HERE'S da music!
I'm looking for the music (sheet music or songbook) to Harvest time.
I'd love to have a songbook that had that in it because it would probably have more songs like that. Old time gospel! Also I want to buy a CD or cassette or whatever by Janice Sjostrand. I have a cassette she sent me years ago and it just moves me to tears every time I play it. It's kind of gone to the dogs now, warped and skippy, but I still play it.:hanky
Long time ago a lady in our church used to wave her hanky like that and walk up and down the aisle. You knew the Spirit was moving when she did that.

Do you mean the Harvest time song....the UPCI plays on their Harvest time show on Sunday mornings?
If not....what is the name of the artist that did it originally? Was there a Choir that sang it?
You might want to include both the song and the original artist when making a request like that from now on.
someone in the other forum said it was from the old songbook "Sing Unto the Lord"...it was a woman on a radio show. That's all I know of it. :-)

I'll bet it was the Harvest time song they used to sing on sunday mornings on the UPCI radio broadcast. Don't know if they still do that or not...I have not listened to harvest time radio in years!
Well I don't believe it! I FOUND that book with my other sheet music. The book was made by Word Aflame press...in 1978!!
Here is their homepage.

I wrote them and told them you were looking for a used copy, so I will see if they write back.
It is on page 72 and 73 if you ever get hold of one....it is the one with the BROWN cover that says Sing unto the Lord in gold letters on the front cover.
Here are the words in case you don't find it.It is in 4/4 time, but I do not know what key it is in as I do not read sheet music.
VERSES 1. I look and see earths golden riches. The hoarding mob for selfish gain. The toil of hands for ease and comfort. I look again and see the falling golden grain.
2. Say not "Four months and then comes the harvest" For ripe the grain ready to yield. Work while it's day for night is coming. Lift up thine eyes and see God's needy harvest Field.
3. And when I stand before the maker, and give account for what I've done. May I then hear him saying to me. "Well done my servant, you the crown have won".
4. Oh, do not sleep while souls are dying. Awake, arise there's much to do. At any price seek hard to win them. And then I'm sure there will be a crown for you.
5. I prayed a prayer "Help me be faithful", in all my work for Christ the king. To never waste a precious moment. Then when at last, I'll all my trophies to him bring.
CHORUS:
Harvest time. Harvest time. The Saviour's calling, the grain is falling. Oh, do not wait, it's growing late, behold the field is white, it's harvest time.
Hope that helps you! Good luck.
I just thank you so much. I just LOVE this song.

If you have a pianist that knows the song, they should be able to figure out the chords. They are very simple.
