Yesterday, my mother was suppose to have thanksgiving dinner with my sister's family. Our calls to wish her Happy Thanksgiving went unanswered.
Finally, my sister sent her son over to my mother's senior living facility to check on her. When he got there he saw an ambulance pulling in also.
It turns out that my mother fell in her apartment and could hardly move. She has an emergency string she can pull to get emergency help in her bedroom and in her bathroom. It took her three hours to crawl an inch at a time to pull the string! Her face has rug burns.
Anyways, what is causing her balance problem and weakness in her limbs is Chairi Malformation in her brain and spinal chord. This requires brain surgery.
On top of that, they think the fall may have caused a heart attack.
She is now going through extensive tests to check her heart. If her heart is fine, they will probably choose to do the brain surgury. They can't do both heart surgery and brain surgery back to back.
We should have a clear direction by the end of the day today. Please say a prayer for mom!

Dear Lord God,
We bring Bro. Pianoman's little mother to You and humbly ask You to
take care of her. You were there as she inched her way to pull the string.
YOU no doubt encouraged her one inch at a time and gave her the strength
to make it. Thank YOU, LORD GOD, for there is no way we could make it in
this world if it were not for YOU. Thank You for what You will decide to do
for this precious little mother, in Jesus Name! Whatever You decide or give
the physican's the wisdom to do for her, we know it will be the best! Thank
You, dear Friend! We love You because You loved us first. We didn't know
how to love until You showed us how!!

First of all, thank you for your prayers!
Mother's heart is getting weaker, and as a result she's going downhill fast! She is very weak as of this morning. During the night my sister told me that her heart rate got down to 50.
The neurologist said that the brain surgury is urgent, but they must first get her heart strong enough to handle the operation.
This may be a catch 22, because the Chiari Malformation may be causing the heart to get weak!
They are going to do a heart cath to see if maybe stints or a pacemaker will help.
Doing nothing would be fatal, but any surgery with a weak heart could be fatal too.
Please continue to pray! :)

It's my guess too that you mom is probably ready to let go, so there's no more fight left in her.
Praying both for your mom & for the family that God would undertake in this situation!

I just got home from visiting the hospital, and mom is doing much better!
She is now out of critical care and in a normal room. Her vital signs are doing much better and she looked good and was alert.
They plan to do the heart cath in the next few days. Once her heart is healthy, they'll plan the brain surgery.
I feel much better after today! :thumbsup
Prayer changes things...
Glad to hear the good news about your mom. Praying that her health continues to improve.

PM, what is causing the Chiari malformation? People with my condition (Intercranial Hypertension) can have that happen as a result (thankfully, I don't have that), but it's unlikely that your mom has that condition.
Anyway, just saw this request and will keep her in prayer. Keep us informed as well.
