Follow up....

I know we're not under the Law, but I don't think everything in the old Testament is completely irrelevant. I still believe there are good princiles in the law, but I believe that the law as a means to attain righteousness is done away with in Christ.....hope that clarifies

I'd have to cite the Leviticus scripture as well as the scriptures in the new testament about being the temple of the Holy Ghost, as well as some in Romans 6 about living unto God.

But ultimately, I would think this falls into the Romans 14 category. It something I wouldn't do, and would discourage others not to do, but I'm not going to judge someone over it or break fellowship over it. I've got to answer to God for my own decision, I'll let everyone who claims to be a Christian stand before God for themselves. Its not my job to judge another mans servant. HOWEVER, if I'm teaching/preaching on it, I'm am teaching against it based on biblical prinicples.

Come on, Jason....the verse before the tattoo verse in Leviticus says, "Do not trim off the hair on your temples or clip the edges of your beards." Do you shave, Jason? Do you trim your hair? Jasonnnnnnnn.......come on.

And the Romans 6 passage can be used to condemn anything one doesn't like. I think if one is going to "preach/teach" against it based on biblical principles, one is going to have a very tough row to hoe with the unchurched. I think they're gonna see through that in a second.

I think there is a difference between teaching principles and teaching "if you do it you going to HELL!!!!!!!" And like I summed up, I believe it ultimately falls into the Romans 14 category.

I'll begin growning a beard now, by the time I visit you, I'll look like ZZ Top :ursofunny How's that for consistency? :D

But the ecliptic confrontation that you eventually must have is this: What's important and what's not? I would challenge you to take a weight scale and on one side, put grace. On the other side, put tattoos. See which one wins.

I'm not sure what, in Romans 14, rises to the level of the disapproval of tattoos, but ultimately, which side of the weight scale is heavier: Grace or tattoos?
