Poe is a good man and one that I very much like. It has little to do with his 'brashness' or his 'in your face' demeanor. It has everything to do with the fact that he's true to what he is. He's not trying to impress anyone when he does these things... he is trying to get a point across and usually does it.
Bottom line, I can go a LONG way with a man that says what he means and means what he says. A lot farther than I can with people who preach things and later say, "Well, I don't think it's an issue of salvation" or "I just wanted to make them nervous." Say what you mean, preacher, and quit dancing around with things that you don't believe! You may not have everyone happy when you're done but you'll have your integrity. :grampa Besides, I think it's telling that the man has revival almost everywhere his feet land. Young people love him, passionate saints enjoy him and carnal Saints pray through as a general rule. As for the person 'hearing' what he preached last night... if it stands true to the record he has she probably WAS hearing it... and 'amen-ing' him as loud as she could. I've watched the man be as hard as nails on Pastor's Kids who were backslidden, seen him pray them through and then stay close to them until they are established and productive for God. Strong tea or not, you can't ask for a more sincere person. Now, give me someone true to what they are anyday over someone that uses the pulpit for an occupation only. |

I've seen people come to the services because they know that what he will tell them is going to be on the mark and not some showmanship stuff. He isn't playing around with what and who he is. That's for sure. He doesn't spout off things that are not real and present in a congregation. I might add that I have heard many to have said Verbal Bean used psychology on the masses. lol! Not many men like Brother Poe - it is the sincerity they feel. Some preach fear for reaction. He preaches truth and direction. That is where the deliverance is coming in. These people really want to come out of where they are and live right. There are people that are so bound that they need this from him. It is his ministry. I won't stand against him. I have seen other ministers that try to be this way and they fall flat. They are using the pulpit for the office, for the authority or they are trying to change people without a burden or full knowledge. This is Brother Poe's calling and he takes it seriously. I just don't know how to explain it any more. |
