Think of all the people that have gone to hell because of this. What? None?

The text of the NT is only interesting to a few. But without it, no one would be able to read a NT.

For me, it has nothing to do with theology. It is a problem for textual critics. Or, it is not a theological issue it is a textual criticism issue.

Frankly, one is as interesting as the other. At least for Greek geeks like myself. :)

There might not be any textual variants in Greek, so I am not holding my breath, however there might be textual variants in Hebrew, that is what I am quite hopeful about.

It will be interesting and helpful for early NT manuscripts of any language to be discovered.

All manuscripts can be viewed reasonably well enough to read.

I couldn't imagine how people would react if an verified early, Greek manuscript or fragment of Matthew showed up someday with the alternate reading. It would cause so much controversy.

It may be that evidence for the variant reading of Matthew 28:19 will surface some day. I mean, who expected the Dead Sea Scrolls to show up in '48? So, should a person be thought less of for believing it exists even without the proof, even though strong hints are present that it HAS to be real?

Believing it exists and actually writing your own Bible are two VERY different things.
