Our anointing process probably stems from that in part. We dab some oil on the head and proceed to pray for the person with hands laid on the head.

I have often thought that we should have a pump up sprayer when the crowd gets large for prayer. Just pump it up and hose'm down......:ursofunny :ursofunny :ursofunny

Several of you have listed scripture that says laying on of hands.

None of those scriptures says lay hands on the "head".

BTW...I don't have a problem with laying hands on the head.

Just curious why the head was selected.:)

Exactly

Gen 48:14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it on Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left on Manasseh's head, crossing his hands. For Manasseh was the first-born.

Cheezy already stated that the oil was poured over the head. This is clear from OT scripture but im not posting it.

I suspect that this is the beginning of our current custom.

Plus it is safer than other parts of the anatomy....

Esther,
I just think it's a logical place on the body. Think of the other choices? :winkgrin

If you could hear Bro.Doug White's message on the "Channel of the Anointing" you would understand. Maybe we could get him to post his notes.
