Massive flooding and dangerous conditions. Power outages off and on. Most churches closed, as well as emergency centers opened. Please pray that our church does not flood again!

My neighborhood is now flooding. :tissue

I just moved my car from the street to the driveway. The water is inching up the driveway. *sigh*

I am praying as well. I lived in Pasadena in the 70s, and it would flood if we had a few inches if rain...I cannot imagine it now. From firsthand experience I know that video clips of the flooding cannot come close to how it really is.

I did some military maneuvers to get out of my neighborhood. One gas staton is open. No bread. I need bread. Ugh!
This pic is the front entrance to the neighborhood. I couldn't return through the back entrance.

I would have drove through that, looks like "puddling" where I'm from (next door to Trinity River, we would get 15 foot rise whenever the dam in Livingston got opened up). But then again I drive big pick ups, last one was a raised F250 4x4, current one is an F350 dually flatbed.

:heeheehee

Hope you guys do okay. Ike was rough for a lot of folks for weeks afterward. I'm a big believer in having at least a 3-4 week supply of food, water, and toilet paper on hand at all times. Learned that from living in the backwoods of the Gulf Coast.

Well... not prepared.., at all. I did want to get what may be my last pay check on Friday, pay day is on Monday... checks are in the office on Friday. Get it? Ok. No one answered the dang phones. Then later they post on Facebook that they were making sandwiches and putting lunch sacks together for the guards that were going to be stuck at their posts.

Had I been better off financially I would have purchased the F350 that my uncle sold 3 yrs ago. I drove it several times. Loved it! Blaring country music.., and Sixteen Stone. Those mirrors that extend for pulling trailers (I assume) are awesome. I was able to see behind the truck. :happydance

Are you going to be able to get your check tomorrow?

No. Not likely. I will survive. I'm a little dramatic. Being stuck here at home is all kinds of draining. Having the news on for 2 days didn't help.

Houston is standing strong! We lost our hot water heater, because of flooding in our outside pump house, but we will survive. God has His hands on our city. No politics. No tension. All peoples of all backgrounds working together. This is us, and this is what makes this old big man a proud Houstonian! I think our nation as a whole could learn from us and those around us. Just saying!

We have electricity! Yea! Our saving grace is the three trees we had removed a couple of years ago anticipating a storm like this, otherwise, they would be on our house.

So much devastation and debris! We have one downed tree along with the fence, shingles needing to be replaced. Other than that, no major damage to the house.

My only mishap was having a flat in the pouring rain. Ugh! We did stock up on non-perishables. No stores are open at this time. Our little pocket of the world was saved one more time.

It’s not over yet, we are still under Tropical Storm Warnings. Still a lot of rain and wind gusts. Of course, the horrendous flooding will be on us for a while. The military helicopters sound soooo foreboding...

Thanks to all those who prayed and are praying for Texas and Louisiana! :highfive

Thank you! I have never seen so many downed trees. Our two neighbors across the street each lost a tree, but neither hit their houses. :thumbsup

There is another system developing in the Atlantic. So far, it appears it will track NWN.

Thank you! A couple of grocery stores are open but they, of course, are only selling non-perishables.

I left for a couple of days and decided to come back. Now the road I was able to come in on is blocked. No getting out now.
