Re: Chris reed joins the ministry elite

In these churches everyone is a prophet. If they are all prophets how didn't they know beforehand that Chris Reed had issues? Again, they aren't discerning through the Spirit of God, but the spirit of suspicion. They discerned Chris Reed as being a drug user, from what they saw personally, from hanging out with him. So, no matter what time stamps they have on their cell phones concerning what the Lord said to them about Chris Reed, they already had formed their thoughts on Chris through their experiences with Chris. This is more about a guy not having accountability within a church family. Keep in mind that these people gathered under Chris after he got caught with his girlfriend situation. So, no tears should be shed, because these guys knew what car they were buying. They knew it had a bad transmission, bad charging system, and dirty fuel injectors. Yet, still they are shocked that they were left on the side of the road. These individual claim they knew these things for years? I've known Chris had issues...for years! The difference is, I wouldn't let Chris shovel snow. They say they would quit the pulpit before they would do what Chris has done? But they say they knew for years? Joe Sweet, Chris Reed, and Eric and Loretta Rote, all knew each other for awhile. These people have fellowshipped for sometimes it seems, why didn't someone act on Chris' bad behavior before? If you see tread and steel belts coming out of your tire, you know it will become flat? So, obviously you will change it. Yet, like so many other people who are in these situations, no one says anything, no one changes the tire. They ride around until they are stuck on the side of the road. When anyone does speak up and point the false prophet out, they are attacked. By individuals who will later sheepishly apologize to the ones who knew the guy was banged up. Cognitive Dissonance and Confirmation Bias keeps individuals stuck in these situations, until it gets to be a circus train wreck. Again, from this video this situation was long long running. The car was purchased with a knocking motor, even mechanics told these people the car was going to throw a rod. But, now they are just shocked that the motor is blown, and oil is running down the driveway.

You know something, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Just the very tip. The old snowball effect. When someone in ministry doesn't stop and sit "themselves" down, it only gets worse. This is pretty bad. Holding onto a ministry when it is capsizing, because to sit down, and reexamine one's life requires a change in vocation. Lifting bags of concrete, stocking shelves at Walmart, or being a night watchman. Can't be fathomed, because of a "self-image" of the prophet, pastor, evangelist, apostle teacher. The focus should be on Jesus Christ, His death, burial, and resurrection. The whole sitting on the platform, and holding a microphone can get a little out of hand. If we allow our own self image remove the good fear of God. Which is respect. Taking the guard of the circular saw, and sticking your carpenter pencil in the end to lock it open, happens from time to time. But, once we lose respect (carefulness) of what that tool's spinning blade can do, and why the guard must spring back to cover the spinning teeth. One accident can be life changing. When we lose respect for what we are doing in ministry, and become self delusional. Time works it's super power, and sooner or later heads will roll.

The word of the day is "Data Mining"

While this term has other definitions, it has one for the charismatic "prophet"

As it is being used ecclesiastically, data mining refers to the practice of covertly gathering personal information from social media profiles (such as Facebook or Instagram) of attendees or followers to use that information during "prophetic" moments during a service. They find the information on family, friends, addresses, past history, illnesses. Peter Popoff dream come true. The individuals in this video are clobbering Chris Reed. Preaching can be so rewarding to one's soul. It's awesome. But if you are focused on titles, positions, fame and FOURTUNE! You are asking for all sorts of mayhem. Chris should've fell in love with Jesus Christ, stayed in the prayer room, and never set a foot on a platform. He could of had a fishing trip ministry, where he could've led people to the Gospel, prayed people through to the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues, and baptized them in the name of Jesus Christ. Instead of prophet lying, and getting into all kinds of mess. Jesus really knows how to lead us to greener pastures, and help us to help others. To die in obscurity but to be loved by Christ isn't a bad thing. It's pretty cool I must say. The Apostle Paul only wanted to know Christ in the death, burial, and the power of the resurrection.

I watched it. I have been following Mike on YouTube for those videos exposing corruption. Very eyes opening.

To some extent the Lord puts a responsibility on the hearers to judge the prophets in the OT and false teachers in the NT. This also shows once more that a believer really needs to pay attention to the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles, they need to be truly a disciples of Christ independently, instead of being disciples of a denomination or leader. They need to put their teaching and guidance in perspective.

I am actually coming more and more to the conclusion that paid full time ministry is not a good idea.

During the times of Jesus, the culture was that teachers were supposed to have a job. They were encouraged to arrange their lives so they could dedicate themselves as much as possible to the Torah and its teachings while keeping work. The saying was that the teacher that has no profession can't be a good teacher. Some did that by having periods of hard work and periods of not working. Traveling teachers expenses were the only thing expected to be fully covered, and usually by the means of hospitality, not salaries. This is explained in the Jewish Encyclopedia from 1906, and can also be seen in the Didache.

The pressure of a hugh platform and expectation of bringing in massive finances to support it definitely invite corruption.

It's better If you have a small church with several teaching Elders who can share the responsibility and still are able to work. More personal and honest.
