Re: Repentance, forgiveness of sins?...

I looked up my old church online. In the doctrine as far as confessions and restoration was based on Joshua 7:19(confession, revealing a secret) and 1John 1:9.

I'd still like to hear more opinions on this. I assumed maybe this was a standard thing for Apostolic Jesus Only.

No.

Also, what do you mean by "Jesus Only " churches?

The Church I went to was a Jesus Only church. Oneness.

Jesus Only is a term used by some for "Oneness" churches.

Some like the term and say, "Well, Jesus is the only God I know."
Others don't like the term and consider it insulting.
One oneness author said, "I'm not Jesus only. I'm Lord Jesus Christ only."

You have recieved good word here Shawn. Just confess and HE forgives. It is the simplicity of the gospel. Confessing to one another is can be a good thing to strengthen your faith - but is never a contingency for forgiveness. The contingency is the cross of Jesus - and your willingness to embrace it.

It was doctrine at the Church I attended to confess all of our sins to the Pastor. It was part of Confesion/Restoration based on Joshua 7:19 and IJohn 1:9.

Confess your faults one to another... Not necessarily to 'the pastor' but to one another. Yes, sometimes there is a healing, cleansing, restoring power in confessing one's faults to THE CHURCH or to an individual brother or sister. Sometimes, however, there is not (really depends on the spiritual maturity of the people involved).

But there is no Bible doctrine that says you MUST confess all your sins to a pastor. that is catholic.
