Nice spot!!! I like that one as well! That's the way it ought to be done.

I scripted the ad myself and nailed it in one take. They put the music behind and did exactly what I wanted them to.

Commercial cost to record was nothing. The stations were running a special so we actually got each spot for about $3. That is an incredible deal. Also, one of the ad reps is the mother of our Youth pastor, so she lets me know when they have really good deals.

We came up with a great idea and sold 30 MINUTE spots to some local churches
and we even edited it for them.

We also started a program called "Powerpoint" where pastors of all churches came in and I recorded their 5 minute sermon and then I found an appropriate song to tie in with what they talked about. We gave every church in town a list
of who would speak for the following year...our listeners LOVED it. We also gave the church of the week a plug (location, times of services, and special events)
If this is an idea that appeals to you, go and talk to your local station's program director.

How much is a spot though usually?

I have paid $10 before on a Christian station. I normally only buy when it is a good deal or negotiate a good deal.

I used to be a purchasing executive, so I LOVE to negotiate!!! (it's fun to me)

A regular 30 second spot for a business runs from 9-15 dollars per time aired. Business will usually buy a month's worth of ad time at a cost from 600-1200 dollars depending on how many times it is aired and the time of day.

It is different pricing for churches.

Also the more you get involved with your station the more they are willing to cut you some breaks. So here is what you do...have some folks volunteer for a radio event...let them "rent" your auditorium for a concert...get someone from your church on their staff...befriend their management...host a "thank-you" lunch for them for bringing Christian music to your area.

Then...you have an ally in your mission to reach your city.

You got a deal by either of two ways....
1. You have done some things that I posted above.
2. The station isn't worth their salt and they are giving away the farm to try and keep up with their competitor.

I feel it is probably the first reason.

You're right, it's #1.

This is a Clear Channel Communications network of three local stations so we can run on all of them. They each have a different demographic so we get quite a wide play and they pretty much have the radio market sowed up in our area.

It would appeal to me if I was in your area John and thinking of finding a church.

What a wonderful method of outreach to the community.....thank God you did not put video with your audio invite...that would have been just sinful.

Vote for R6 in Tampa...let the campaign begin.

Like the spot, MOW. Good focus.
