My favorite stories EVER are The Greatest Salesman in the World (I & II), The Greatest Miracle in the World, and The Christ Commission. (Og Mandino)

However, I still love Jane Eyre and Leaves of Grass--they're not really about the Gospel. :D

The book that most changed my life as a teenager was In His Steps.

I know of the writer Charlotte Bronte, and yes very good book by Charles Monroe Sheldon. Books are better than movies. Nothing can beat man's imaginative mind.

Same thing, just a few changes. Let's put it this way, deep space nine, Dr Who, Logan's Run, Planet of the Apes, and Star Trek all the same thing.
Nothing new.

No.

It is not all the same.

Well, yes. Star Trek is related to the Gospel to some extent. It was a prophetic series. Personal computers, very similar to the one you are staring at right now, were all over the Enterprize. Data disks? Saw em on the Enterprize in the 60s when we of the mid 20th century were still using reel-to-reel tapes. Personal communictaions devices? A revelation of that ubiquitous cell phone we all have. Cat scans, MRIs? Yep, the Enterprize had 'em. HD TVs? Sure, couldn't get anymore HD than the main veiwer on the bridge. I read not long ago where scientist had managed to teleport light from one place to another. Why, the Enterprize was teleporting carbon based life forms years ago. Lasers? Nonlethal weapons? Synthetic foods? Wireless communication? Its all there aboard Starfllets finest, the USS Enterprize.

It is said that Star Trek did more to break thru the racial barriers than anything else when, for the first time ever on American television, an interacial kiss was shown. Star Trek taught equality among, not only the races, but bewteen genders, cultures and even between intergalatic species. Okay, that last one is a bit far-fetched, but the point is made.

DNA testing? Yep, Dr. MCoy could distinquish Klingon blood from Romulon blood years before you had ever heard of DNA .

Gene Roddenberry was a visionary and much of what he envisioned is reality today.
But Star Trek being compared to Logans Run? Sorry, but thats like comparing the Andy Griffith Show to Mayberry RFD. There IS no comparison.

Can I get a big Amen from my brother Trekkies? Live long and prosper. Come to think of it.... that famous Vulcan salutation sounds a lot like 3Jo 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

You know RW, what was with William Shatner's over acting? What did America see in his extreme dramatic displays. DeForest Kelley was a little better, but the Kabbalist Lenord Nemoy was the main attraction.

Maybe I should ask this question. How do these movies and old tv re-runs enhance a Christian walk?

Not trying to be sarcastic or antagonistic, but really would like to know.

I always thought everything was pretty cheesy and looked alot like Plan 9 from Outer Space, or Son of Godzilla. I guess you could say that Gene Rodenberry was a visionary as much as any other Sci Fi writer, Isaac Asimov, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Arthur C. Clarke (just passed away this year as did Thomas M. Disch), and H. G. Wells. Also we must not forget L. Ron Hubbard, who on a bet said that he could create his own religion and make money from it, and that his religion would become as popular as the three religions of Jesus, Buddha, and Muhammad.

The Star Trek Vulcan greeting and farewell, was created from Kabbalah, with the hand symbol from Kabbalah. The live long and prosper comes from Kabbalist principle, and since Kabbalist teaching of the Zohar, borrow from Old Testament principles. It all would sound like it is all lifted from the pages of the Bible

I hardly would think that would be the case. I was just asking what Star Trek had to do with the Gospel. ;)

So what exactly are you trying to say here? That if it doesn't have anything to do with the Gospel, we should never discuss it?

So much for discussing that new car purchase with your wife. Or discussing how the kids are doing in school with their teachers. Or planning for that next vacation. Or.................
