Herbert Hoover is almost unanimously seen as the worst president in the last 100 years.
Jimmy Carter however, was the least effective.
Lyndon Johnson certainly deserves to be mentioned.
However, none did as much damage to the Constitution as FDR. Conventional wisdom puts him at the forefront of “Greatest Presidents” and he is top 5 or 6 all time on most lists. But he did many things that if done today, might lead to an actual violent attack on Washington. FDR passed laws that froze prices and people were actually arrested for setting their price below what he demanded. He was Americas only real authoritarian president. Not to mention his absolute bungling of Social Security. After first getting it passed, he worked it so that the funds coming into SS program went directly to the general revenue coffers and not into the SS system. We are now paying the price for that ineptness.

All 4 of these guys deserve to be listed on any “worst presidents “ list.

Not so. President Harry Truman (D.) appointed former President Hoover to lead the commission that was to lead to the 22nd Amendment in 1945. President Hoover obviously had a lot of respect and standing in both parties to be tapped for that job.

Despite the claims of FDR revisionists, Hoover's policies had nothing to do with the Great Depression. The new Federal Reserve Bank was the entity responsible for that. Right when they should have been loosening up the money supply in response to the market crash and associated business downturns they instead tightened the money supply and almost brought us to the brink of fascism.

Only the long toil of war and the consequent destruction of the industrial and manufacturing capacity of most of the rest of the world got us out of the Depression.

Just IMHO. Hoover wasn't so bad. His main fault was his failure to understand the new media tools of radio and the Newsreel.

One word...Katrina.

Can you think of one president ever in history that caused a hurricane?

I would have thought the answer to your question would be self evident, seeing how

I'm not sure where you're going with this, but I'd ask you to get there quickly. I left Chalmette merely 7 hours before Katrina made landfall and anything that woulndt fit in our Chevy Astro was lost. I have friends who lost family in St. Bernard Parish and New Orleans. Even now, so many years later, I get very touchy when people use such intense personal tragedy for political points. Especially those who werent there and werent directly affected by it.

I believe GWB will go down in history as a good president, and certainly his legacy will IMPROVE because of Obama. Right now everyone is drinking the Obama koolaid that everything is Bush's fault, but that broken record is already getting old even with some Obama supporters (some, not all, as many are mindless Obama sheep.)

One thing that no one seems to consider with GWB is that 9-11 happened when bush had only been in office about 6 months. It shaped his entire presidency, plus the housing bubble that the Clinton administration had put in place busted (as everyone warned that it eventually would during Clinton's administration) towards the end of Bush's term. When you consider it, much of the negative things spoken about Bush were democrats fault, and the things now being blamed on Bush were democrats fault (in many cases).

No Bush wasn't perfect, I especially was disgusted how he treated muslims AFTER 9-11 saying the worshipped the same God, but I can understand the political expediency of it. Which also makes my point, GWB was a politican, and as far as politicians go, I like GWB, he seemed to be honest, and have some integrity. He is accused of being stupid because he wasn't especially eloquent. However in contradistinction to Bush, we now have Obama, whom some have pretty much elevated to the role of Messiah and Savior, not merely a politician. He is the anti-Bush. He lies, has massive corruption surronding his administration and associates, and he responds eloquenly seemingly only when [tele-] promted.

GWB invites Obama to the White House, speaks kindly to Him, and what does Obama do, but throw Bush under the bus, blame all his problems on him, and unseal private records that no president had unsealed on a previous president.

GWB to me, is just a man, and probably a sinner at that, but this business about him being a bad president is simply folks taking the baith hook, line and sinker from a liberal media with an agenda.

Also, I don't recall GWB apologizing on behalf of America or bowing to muslim leaders (while disrespecting Israeli and British leaders). PS-Laura Bush had way more class than Michelle Obama, and here 13 personal servants. :vomit

I dont fully agree with you. Hoover did do some things that exacerbated the situation. Hoover raised protectionist tarriffs (Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act.) which hampered recovery. At the end of his term he along with congress raised taxes drastically causing further damage.

I do agree that in later years Hoover was seen as an elder statesman and had a good deal of respect.

Speaking Truman, he was seen as a poor president by the end of his term, but has in recent years recovered a good deal.

A teacher asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different... again.

Little Johnny said, "Because I'm not an Obama fan."

The teacher asked, "Why aren't you a fan of Obama?" Johnny said, "Because I'm a Republican."

The teacher asked him why he's a Republican. Little Johnny answered, "Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican."

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, "If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?"

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, "That would make me an Obama fan."
