The only way we could say that electric razors are acceptable is if you can show me chapter and verse in the King James Bible (not some modern paraphrase or "per"version) that Jesus used an electric razor.

There is the great danger and sin of what these teachers have done. Think of how many tens of thousands of sincere minded lovers of Jesus came to Apostolic Churches seeking more truth and were hit with a tradition that said men were lost or in sin simply for wearing a beard!

THAT is what makes this a burning issue. Souls turned away from a deeper knowledge of Christ over something that is honored in scripture but among our people scorned. Offending many seekers of truth and showing they dont love truth so much after all. Helping the Devil to discredit the teaching of Oneness doctrine by teaching error themselves.

It is for the lost and searching souls that I am offended. I was willing and did shave but over time could not stomach the extra Biblical stuff they threw out there.

I am a rare situation where my wife LIKES facial hair on me -except I don't like it, or at least not as much.

I may have to grow a quick scruffy beard for Valentines........

Indeed....

Mar 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, [as] the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mar 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

I find it hard to believe that a preacher told a man they could not be saved it they were wearing a beard. I am not saying any of you that heard it are lying. It's just down right idiotic. If so the blood is on their hands.

But when we know better, we do better.

LOL....

The word also says that God would rather you be hot or cold... not lukewarm.

So... in the beard situation.. grow one.. or shave it... but don't just grow stubble... :)

My husband has to shave every day for safety purposes at his work site. They have to be able to put on a face mask at any given moment in the event of a chemical leak or an explosion. If they don't have a cleaned shaved face the mask will not protect them. You can get sent home for not shaving. My son keeps a razor in his car. LOL!

We had a tremendous amount of smoke boiling in the sky in his direction last week. Someone called and asked me if the place had exploded. I told her I didn't think so because I couldn't hear the firestation alarm. I drove toward the smoke and it was a huge field being burned off. :thumbsup

Yes, because they have had several explosions. One rattled our windows 10 miles away. My husband's group was the first out of the location. :thumbsup

And we would be even more manly if our knives were dull and rusty.

Now I need to go pound my head against a tree and rub some gravel in my hair. It's Miller Time!

At what point is an unshaved man lost?

How long must the facial hair be before he is Hell-bound?

How much is too much, until he is only a whisker away from judgement?

David Bernard's point of view:

Men's facial hair

a) Whether shaved or allowed to grow, facial hair is part of the natural appearance that distinguishes men from women.

b) The Bible speaks of beards favorably or neutrally (e.g., Psalm 133:2; Isaiah 50:6).

Therefore, they are not inherently evil but are wrong if associated with a sinful lifestyle, rebellion, or pride, as in America generally during the 1960s and 1970s.

It's too late brother...... All men are lost....

I think it should be a sin to have nose and ear hairs........ Those are the ones we should be worried about!

Re: How Often Must a Man Shave to be Saved?

When did it become the norm for men to have shaved faces? Our pioneer forefathers had beards. When and why did shaving become so popular?

eta: I was just looking at the pictures of the Presidents of the USA. The first presidents didn't have much, if any, facial hair until Abraham Lincoln. From Lincoln until Woodrow Wilson in 1913, most of the presidents had a significant amount of facial hair, most of them had beards, some of them had bushy beards! After Wilson, very few presidents had any facial hair at all.

So how did we get to the place from "it's very normal and acceptable for a man to have a beard" to "if you have a beard you're a hippie?"

About the time many started spending more time and focus on picking eachother apart, rather than giving "the world" Jesus, would be my 1st guess.

wasn't it around the time of the hippie movement...... long hair and long beards were signs of rebellion, if I remember.... So men didn't want to be associated with that so they started shaving!

I think that's what I heard........

wait, that's what you just said....... I didn't see the last part of your post! lol

Re: How Often Must a Man Shave to be Saved?

From looking at the lists of presidents, and other pictures from that time period, it had become a cultural norm for men to shave before the hippie movement. I just wonder why.

There were other time periods in history, also, where men shaving was the norm. Obviously, since George Washington was clean shaven (with a pretty wig :D).

I just think it's interesting. I wonder why men started shaving, period. Seems like such an unnecessary hassle.

(and just to stir the pot - it's interesting that preacher's insist that men must follow the cultural norms, but not women :D)

My theory... I ran across a business dress code for office workers in the 1920's once. It included the "no facial hair" and even the "no open toed shoes."

I think someone just ran off a mimeograph of that list a handed it out at church one day. It was a simple and easy way to get folks from a variety of backgrounds to line up (and clean up?) the appearances without singling any one person out.

The simplicity was the main selling point and it caught on.

Re: How Often Must a Man Shave to be Saved?

Beards went out of style after the future Edward VIII became Prince of Wales and heir presumptive during WW1. It was entirely a style thing, kind of like what John Kennedy did to men wearing hats.

Pentecostals were so hungry to be accepted at the time that they seemed to have gone out of their way to conform and insist that "their people" not look like they had "come from the wrong side of the tracks."

We've been beating one another down with these same insecurities ever since.

Or a papist plot by the Vatican? http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/02362a.htm

Why else would the ranking clergy insist that all of the younger men look like altar boys?
