Christians that listen to wordly music are not christians therefore the statement is a contradiction

Unfortunately I fear this is how a lot of people spend their adult Christian lives, determining who is and is not a Christian.

Galatians 5:21 (King James Version)
21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

James 4:17 (King James Version)
17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

The first verse, yes they are. "and such like" means "Like THEM".

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
Gal 5:21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
The second one refers to a person's knowing to do what is good and not doing it, to HIM it is a sin...That does not mean "to someone else who things they can judge you it is a sin"...that is obviously more personal.

And the problem with this mindset is people think they are empowered to sit around and think up "sins"...that's a sin, that's a sin too. They end up very judgmental people while neglecting the more weightier matters

Mat 23:23"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.
Mat 23:24You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!
Mat 23:25"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
Mat 23:26You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.
Mat 23:27"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness.
Mat 23:28So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Mat 23:29"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous,

It is important
Matthew 7:16 (King James Version)
16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Yeah? So music is the big test eh? Let's put everyone under a microscope. Let's have a witch hunt based on music? Is that more or less important than telling people how to be Spiritually minded, have the fruit of the Spirit and how to avoid the works of the flesh?

So when they break into the Star Spangled Banner, do you cover your ears?

I enjoy some good classic pop & rock. They just don't have lyrics like that in todays music. For example one of my favorites is "Come Together" by the Beatles that starts like this;

"Here come old flattop he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please"

I know the author of this thread, hometown guy, will approve of this song because it is about a holy roller!

Re: Christian people listening to secular music

No Christian reads a secular newspaper!

Or browses a secular internet.
Or reads a secular book.
Or looks at a secular painting.
Or buys a secular iPhone.
Or goes to a secular restaurant.
Or goes to secular amusement parks.
Or shops at secular malls.
Or goes to secular coffee shops.

Right?
