What is the traditional Rabbinical interpretation? Is that in Josephus writings? I’ll check it out when I get home. I have the book.

I don't know what the rabbis teach. Honestly I don't care what the rabbis teach, unless I'm identifying a particularly Jewish (rabbinical) doctrine or practice for examination, usually in the context of Jewish rabbinical ideas infiltrating Biblical Christianity.

Less likely in Josephus and more likely in Bereshith Rabbah, in the Talmud:

OK, Josephus describes it like if the description in Chapter 2 is the details of what happened on Chapter 1 on the sixth day.

Josephus The Essential Writings. Translated by Paul L Maier. Jewish Antiquites / Beginnings.

Quote:

... The sixth day, He formed the four-footed creatures, male and female, and on this day He also created man. On the seventh day, ....

Moses writes about the formation of man as follows: "God fashioned man from the dust of the earth and breathed into him spirit and soul". This man was called Adam, which in Hebrew signifies "read", since he was made from the red earth, for this is the color of the virgin soil. And God showed Adam the male and female of the living creatures, giving them the names by which they are still called to this day. Since Adam had no female consort and looked with astonishment at the other creatures which had their mates, God took one of Adam's ribs while he slept and formed woman from it...

The differences in Genesis 1 and 2 are not negating the fact that they're the one and same event on the Sixth day. Chapter 2 did not say animals were created from the ground before Eve and after Adam, but that the animals he named were from the ground. Purpose, not chronology. This is because the contrasts from the animals and Eve are vital to focus on the origin, seeing as Adam's help would be from himself, not the ground. This is to foreshadow the gospel with Christ getting his bride from his body on the cross, while the rest of humanity are like the animals by comparison, no help to him.

I've heard it thrown out that the rest of the Bible from Gen 2:4 thru Rev 20:10 are the details of the sixth day, and that we're still in it. Not sure about that, but it is an interesting idea.
