It was you who "jumped to conclusions." Just what kinds of things are you reading that would make you jump from UP's post about men's apparel to everybody running around naked? I'm certain that you don't feel that you have been in the wrong here. Your rant is just so typical of the pale of death that shrouds our movement. Your own bitter conclusions and condemnation - go back and carefully re-read it yourself - is why so many people reject Jesus name baptism and the Oneness of God. You cloak our message with what you hope to be quaint anecdotes - but really... read that post. And, consider the fact that far more people have left your church than will ever attend. Why is that? It's not the message of the Gospel that is being rejected. It's an unBiblical "lifestyle" that is being rejected. If it seems that I'm being harsh toward you, I'm sorry. It's your message that I literally am tired of. That message has destroyed more souls and left more homes and individuals lives in shambles ... it's almost as bad as alcohol or drugs in it's destructive power. And, clean out your magazine rack or whatever it is that causes you to reach such base judgments about those who ask innocent and sincere questions. My blood pressure is actually quite low. But my aspirations for the Kingdom are high. Take the "naked" talk back to the locker room. Thanks. :thumbsup |

And then, when you point out their extremist and even bizarre notions, they curl up into a little ball and complain about how they've been mistreated. Folks like this simply need to grow up... but for many, it's probably too late. They are steeped in their anti-Biblical theories. I suggest that you find something comfortable and appropriate to wear and enjoy the "global warming" that will be with us until about September or October. |

I was just very disappointed in what she posted. C'mon, Sis! "Naked?" Did he say he was going to run around naked like you said? No. You've simply over reacted. If you want to take my reaction to your over reaction as a sign that you never over reacted in the first place, then so be it. ... but c'mon! "Naked?" |
Re: Shorts
Is the following "immodest?" Are these men "naked?" Does this represent a "compromise" that will lead to nudity?

Can someone answer this question. I'm not sure if anyone has yet. According to the UPCI, what is the reason....or justification for this "rule". Falla, I don't think you've even answered my topic question. What do you have to say, besides just rambling on about your family and children. Cut to the chase.ha. I do not think shorts belong in a church service by no means. I do think the the length should be at least the the knees, just like the ladies. It just gets HOT during the summer.....plain HOT! OK..... I prayed about it, and God spoke to me, and said it was ok. Sorry, if this post seems random. If there are mistakes....disregard, it's late! ha...I'm tired. |
Re: Shorts
I think its more of a cultural thing. It's acceptable for a women to show her lower leg without offense but for men it's consider inapproriate. Sometimes we have to live within a cultural standard to not be offensive. Our problem is we sometimes make a cultural standard a holiness standard. If men showing their lower leg is a holiness issue then so is women showing their lower legs like most churches do even cons.

Where did you get the idea I was personally attacking UP and owed him an apology. Or that I was referring to men! Are Apostolic Pentecostals only men. I was raised Apostolic Pentecostal all of my life. Never did I hear any discussion about men or women wearing shorts. If either wanted to, they usually did and you didn't see them in church much longer. Through the years issues have come up and those that didn't like the standards just left and didn't come back. I am thankful to have been raised Apostolic Pentecostal. My late father was licensed with the UPC, but the church he founded never was in the org. per se. The current pastor is also licensed with the UPC, but the church is not affiliated. Falla39 |
