LOL

Honestly, if I could afford to stockpile a few stinger missiles in my shed I would. Do I think the average person should be allowed to have them if they can afford them? I guess afford is the key word in nearly every case of using the example of heavy military hardware in an attempt to form an analogy to AR-15's and what soldiers use in the field.

Thinking this through to extremes I can say that the only weapon control I can imagine being regulated would be extreme weapons of mass destruction (mainly nukes). In other words for the dozen or so US citizens (or less) who could actually afford one, I don't believe they should be allowed to purchase.

And of course, that is exactly what we are seeing happen right now.

Are people really so naive as to think that gun control would solve a problem such as just occurred? Personally, I think the principal and teachers should have the right to carry guns to school. Shooters may think twice if they know the school is armed!

True. I'd be for armed security and screening.

Yes, and everyone that buys a weapon is trained by the government to use it. For self defense purposes. Low crime rates there, also.

Gun control makes the issue of gun violence, and violence in general even worse than it was. So to make a more correct analogy, gun control is NOT like putting a band aid on a wound, it is like finding some stagnant water in a marsh and pouring it on the infection in order to make it worse -while SAYING that your doing "something!" about the problem.

RW, I like your analogy better than mine .... good job! :santathumb

Sometimes it is hard to put into words the emotion your heart feels when these things begin to happen, and analogies help to make your thoughts understood... and well.... I think your analogy is better, you're right... a Band-Aid helps a tiny bit, but this gun control nonsense is like putting filth on a wound, stirring it up and leaving it to fester and become worse.
