MacArthur doesn't preach the gospel? Have you ever read his books Faith Works The Gospel according to the Apostles, The Gospel according to Jesus, or Hard to Believe. Pretty straight forward stuff in there about the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Or do you judge that if someone doesn't say the word tongues they don't preach the gospel? Based on 1 Corn 15:1-4 I'd say MacArthur very much preaches the gospel.

Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

No way. To them the preaching of the gospel MUST INCLUDE the doctrine of eternal security. They call this "salvation by Christ alone". I was told a few days ago when I accepted Christ in 1974 I accepted a false gospel BECAUSE I did not accept OSAS.

They certainly teach license to sin.

Absolutely! :thumbsup And on top of that, they think that you are a heretic.

However I believe if you read Tertullian's "Against Praxeas", He has an Eternally existing Logos which existed Internally to the Father like our thoughts exist internally to us and we converse with. This Logos became externalized as the Son, a Hypostasis distinct from the Father.

Im not sure when though, either before Creation or at the beginning of Creation perhaps.

Others have seen an Eternal Logos becoming the Son too, but again they are considered heretical on that issue

The irony, again, is Walter Martin attacked ALL these different groups as Heretics for rejecting the Trinity

What about this verse?

Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

Was hoping you might elaborate on the verse with the doctrine of the "eternal son".

It doesnt have anything to do with an eternally existing Son

Who cares what John Macarthur thinks? Just pray that God will have mercy on him... and move on.

Since the incarnation, the Son will indeed abide forever. But prior to the incarnation, there was no Son.

OK. I've heard that the "Sonship ended at I Cor. 15:24 - 28.

1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power
.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

1Co 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

1Co 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
