The fact is, I am more likely to agree with Nineteentwentytwoeightyone now than I would be to agree with the cons he is leaving....

but you dont get all huffy with the folks you walk away from for being upset you left.

Well what do you expect? He has crossed the line possibly. Would you not PRAY for someone if you thought so? HOW COULD THEY THINK SUCH! PRay for someone you think is going the wrong direction? OH MY GOODNESS!

because people that dont own their own actions exasperates me.


and when someone shows up on this forum and takes shots at the other side (when those shots arent legit) it really exasperates me

and when someone claims to have been in leadership in a Conservative church then cliams they are "shocked" at the reaction of the Cons they left behind, little read lights start flashing "warning! warning! warning!"

I really have a terrible problem Jeffery.... I think people should own their own actions... I do...

When we left our church we experienced much of the same. It is just important to remember that your true good friends will remain good friends. Those who do the most back biting and do the most accusing were never your friend to begin with, so who cares what they think? These are the ones who will make complete idiots of themselves by crossing the street when they see you coming in order to show the world that you are officially being shunned. Honestly, one can have great fun with these people!

Lets clear this up a bit….

If the OP had said:
I started going to this church that had really strong standards. I decided I didn’t like that and found another moderate church to go to and I am shocked that the cons have reacted like I’m backslid.

My reply would have been “don’t worry about them, move ahead and find the place in God that you are comfortable with”

BUT

The OP said “I have long had leadership positions in my Conservative church”

You people don’t see the difference here? Leaders understand the nature of the people they lead.

The issue he is shocked over is that they "thought so." And it is shocking. Utterly shocking. There's plenty on this forum that have gone through the same ......... To hear these slaps at him, cute replies back about shutting up and praying is asinine.

Owning to his actions? Explain. Let's hypothetically say you aren't a cynic with the guy and you actually believe him. He's been in this church since knee high to a grass hopper. He becomes a "leader" (could be Sunday School teacher, youth leader -- anything). He realizes some things don't add up and he leaves. He's been part of this culture his entire life but only now is on the receiving end of pure ungodliness. He is shocked.

You come along and yell at his to "own up?"
