I Got Hit By a BUS! Really!!

I used to use the terms, "If I get hit by a bus..." or "Man, I feel like I have been hit by a bus!"

Well, it happened this morning, I really and honestly got hit by a bus...a big yellow one...and with kids on it.

Turns out this young kid driving didn't realize she couldn't fit the bus between me and the turn lane curb and smashed into the back of my LandCruiser!

I saw her coming in the mirror, then turned around to see, and BAM!!! Twisted up my shoulders and my lower back, not to mention all the other PITA stuff I have to go through now...

So, I can say, I have been hit by a bus...and it was not fun, luckily, I didn't :spirit

:hanky

...most anything for my wife to be able to live the life of a rich woman...although Brother Fred wouldn't wait until I assumed room temperature to begin hitting on old Carpenter's widow. :D

They were little grade schoolers, laughing. I am soooo glad because we all know that 1st graders loooove telling their parents the truth about car accidents and who was at fault! :D

How about "I feel like I've been run over by a tractor trailer"...

I was. In a rented Ford Echo no less.

I will pray for you and your LandCruiser.

Thank you, it was more than just a minor accident, but everyone was ok...especially the kids.

Carp,

Glad everybody is safe although shaken up. I used tho think whiplash was just a scam for people to try to get money from insurance companies until a hit and run driver hit me twice on the interstate about a decade ago and pushed me into the concrete lane barrier.

Just like you I had turned in my seat to see where the truck was at that had already hit me once when he hit me again hard and into the concrete. It twisted my neck and back. It took months for my back to get ok and even longer for my neck despite physical therapy.

Just make sure you do everything the physical therapist tells you to do!!

Your accident made me think of a co-worker who came back from lunch one day shaken up because he happened upon an intersection right after a cement mixer truck had tried to take a turn at too high a speed and rolled over on top of a small pickup waiting at the stoplight. The truck and the man in it was just a few inches high.

I see what you mean about a new...everything. I'm glad you're ok.

LordChocolate 12-03-2007 09:54 PM

if I am walking down the street and a bus hits me, there will be much more damage to the bus than what was done to that van. I can break a bus in a heartbeat with my little ol self :)

Friend of mine got hit by a train, and lived! I guess it barely nicked the front of the car. It was foggy, and he didn't know how close to the tracks he was.

Glad you're OK, Carpenter!

Actually it is interesting you posted that photo. That is the SUV two high school kids, boys, were helping a lady change a tire on and a young girl hit the back amputating both legs of both boys. They were wrestlers and it was/is a big story around these parts. It was pretty bad weather and can you imagine how the girl who hit them feels?
