church members

I have noticed a lot both good and bad has been said about pastors I was thinking many who post here are pastors. In your opinion what is your ideal church member?

Oh this should be good! I'm really, really curious about this.

I know any relationship is two sided. I can know what sort of pastor I'd like, but what sort of church member would he like me to be?

IMO, yes. I think sometimes the wives get to see things even the pastor doesn't....

Sister Alvear 12-18-2007 09:47 AM

let's get started ..yes we ladies count...

AmazingGrace 12-18-2007 09:57 AM

Ones who pray! Prayer is the key.. saints we know are praying daily.

Saints who dont complain every time you ask them to do something.. especially in a home missions work.

Saints who reach out to the lost, Have you ever sat in a service where a visitor comes and you watch no one greet them other than to walk up and shake their hand. I remember sitting on the platform one night watching a visitor sit at her seat during altar call bawling her eyes out praying and her kids screaming all around here mommy mommy whats wrong and no one offered to tend the kids. no one prayed for her nothing... and this was NOT at my home church so I didnt really have the option of walking off the platform and going to this person however I eventually said something to the pastor and pointed her out at which he went to her and prayed.

Saints who realize that yes the pastor is there to guide them but dont call them all hours of the night for novel things like to pray for your kitty cat! Or because your wife left her purse in the church...

Saints who pay their tithes.

Those are just some thingsthat hit me right off the top

HOw about saints that just "live for God". I mean, they enjoy serving the Lord and they aren't looking for reasons to leave.! How about saints that live for God even though trials come their way. Good saints? Saints that don't cause division in the church. If they have a problem, they won't go and get other saints on their side! Saints that will pray during prayer time and help create an atmosphere for God to move! Saints have a right to ask questions concerning the Word of God. That is what the ministry is there for, to help saints to understand. But please, don't question the very Word of God. If God says no, don't try to find another way around it! JMO

We are blessed with many wonderful saints throughout Brazil but especially blessed by those that have been faithful over the years through ups and downs...those who do not expect us to be gods floating around but realize we are just humans with a divine calling.
Right now I have such a christian lady that came over just to do my nails! Every month she apprears as she feels she has little money but in this way she can be a blessing...so feet and hands are clean!
Another sister comes over about everyday to help cook...
another comes and asks for my ironing and takes it home with her and irons free for me.
another sister cooks almost every Sunday night at her house for us and has us over..(sundays are very tiring days for us)

I thought something was so cute. We do have a painter that works for the church and I had mentioned I wanted to paint my bedroom...while we were in the south they did a surprize (believe me it was a surprize) I walked in one wall is painted orange, one tiny part yellow, 2 walls a lime green with flowes all colors drawed on them...about like a 1st grader would draw...so cute some of the flowers are brown, red, dark green stems of various colors...

I was so taken back when I walked in my room...I was speechless...really I am going to keep it this way for a while...they did it and they think it is beautiful...so I love them for doing it!

I am so blessed by such precious people but like all places we do have a few that really keep us humble! ha....

Sister Alvear 12-18-2007 10:18 AM

I really don't care for dedicated only saints... they are the one that are there everytime, but look like they just ate a prune.... : ) I prefer to have saints that are full of love....

Dedicated and those that "love living for God" are two different kinds of saints. I've seen the dedicated pruned saints and they have no joy... they are not serving God, but rather just "going to church". I love living for God... I've had people ask me why I was always to happy and bubbly. I love God. I love this way of life! I love holiness! I live for God. Yes, I have had trials, I've had brothers and sisters hurt me. I've had hard times, but that doesn't effect how I feel about God... Our pruned friends need a good dose of Holyghost!

Sister Alvear 12-18-2007 10:58 AM

called to be saints was the expression the writer of long ago used...bless those that are called to be saints.

Sister Alvear 12-19-2007 07:04 AM

I appreciate those saints that you can count on...

...it sure makes your ministry easier, doesn't it? I have seen both sides of the fence. I was in Mississippi several years ago and I remember heading down to the church in the middle of the day, and the pastor was there, praying and crying out to God. Chills just ran up and down your spine. This many really loved his position as pastor... and on the flip side of this, I saw many saints who enjoyed going to church. They were always having a good time. Whether spiritually or if they were just fellowshipping, they enjoyed eachother! It was nice to see!

I just want to see passion in people. Eddie says he's tired of "nice" Christians. Ha! Those that just let the enemy walk all over them. We are ready for some warriors who will stand up and take back the ground that was stolen from them.

I can get fired up over this! :christmoose
