Marital Status of AFF'ers

In light of another discussion regarding divorce in the church, just wanted to get a good idea of the break down of our posters.

I wanted to make one choice divorced and was in ministery, but I'm afraid that would be confusing. We can just mention that in the thread.

I was married 24 years.

Divorced for the past three years.

We were in ministery the first few years.

philjones 12-22-2007 09:04 AM

Took you long enough... can you do anything right? sound eerily familiar?

I was in ministry when I married but backslid a year after my marriage. I was backslidden when I divorced and still backslidden when I remarried.

I am in ministry today... somewhat limited by my past mistakes... but I preach every chance I get!

Lol......yes, it eerily does.

However, the best part is I can laugh about you saying that and not be scared I'm in trouble.

I'm divorced, not remarried.

I was married 8 years.

We were in church (not Apostolic though..does that matter?) when we got married, not in church when we got a divorce, and I'm back in church now.

My pastor almost made me cry when he said that as far as he's concerned, I have never been married. We'll see how this impacts my future.

I was in ministry at the time we got married, obviously not when I wasn't in church, but that call remains and I will have to do something about that at some point.

I am blessed to have a wonderful husband and a wonderful family. Both of my sisters were divorced. One remarried and her husband passed away in Oct. He was a good provider and she misses him very much.

Rachel 12-22-2007 09:19 AM

Single! Loving it.

Sadly, that's how most wisdom is learned.

Oh, I married my girlfriend a long time ago and we're coming up on a big date next summer.

Married to my most wonderful wife for 35 years.

People seem to doubt when I've mentioned in conversation that me and wife have never had a fight.

She lets me do everything I want and I always let her have my way.

She is a tremendous support to me in my ministry.

We have one beautiful daughter (32) who is married to a very Godly man and they are very involved in their church.

I thank God daily ...I am a blessed man.

Met my wife Watch-night service in 1979. We went to Milwaukee, WI to visit Bro Frank Tamel's church.

We had already visited these churches:

Bro Munsey in Hammond, Indiana

Bro Mendenhall: South Bend, Indiana

John Cupit: New Orleans, LA

The first night we were in Milwaukee.

I also met one of my best personal friends at the Tamel's house.

We have been friends now almost 28 years.

The following night we went to Watch-night service.

It was snowing really bad that night.

I spent the week with the friend above that I mentioned.

When I got to church the service was awesome.

After church this guy brought his sister over to meet me.

That was Mike Taylor some of you know him from JCM.

We met and talked for about an 1 hour.

We all went out that night and we had a good time.

We exchanged a few letters when I went back to Cincinnati.

Then we moved to Milwaukee we were just friends.

She went to JCM 1 year around 1984-85.

I went to work.

Then she moved to Maryland and stayed with her brother and sister-in-law and went to Chester Wright's church for about a year.

She came back to visit in October 1985.

I asked her out on a date.

She went back to Maryland.

She then moved back to Milwaukee and got a job.

We went out Valentines day 1986 and by March 20th we were engaged.

We got married on Dec 27th, 1986.

It will be our 21st Wedding Annv next week.

I am 43 she is 42.

I have enjoyed the entire time together tough times and great times!!!

Being married can be a great thing......

Ah, that's so sweet! You are blessed.

Married to my first husband for 22 years. :christmoose

AmazingGrace 12-22-2007 11:10 AM

I was married when in church (sorta) and then backslid.. Got back in church and he and I were both ministry then he backslid, we divorced.

I remarried almost 7 yrs ago and am married to the most wonderful man in the world and I dare anyone to prove me wrong LOL :) He loves all of my children as if they were his own... He unfortunately due to distance is really closer to them than he is his own however we are working right now on getting her permenantly. He asked them before he even asked my dad, for my hand in marriage...They were still pretty little and the youngest 2's only comment to that was YAY! Now we can call you Daddy!

We have had some wild rides in life and in the ministry but they have all been worth it by far! I wouldnt trade the road I have walked for anything! (might spread the drama out a little bit but hey...)

Ron 12-22-2007 11:24 AM

I is been married to my present wife for 12 1/2 Years--longest 15 years of my life! (drum roll):christmoose

Marriage is the only word in the English language that carries with it a "Life Sentence!":christmasjig

My wife was different from all the girls I had dated before--She said, "Yes!":rudolph

I tell you one thing--Love keeps us together about 98-99 per cent of the time.
On those days when it ain't so strong (read we want to strangle each other)
a little fear of God goes a long way!

I am truly blessed to have my wife & seeing the stresses & strains on marriage today, we owe everything to God!

Good heavens, March will be a milestone for me...turning 40 (Good Lord have mercy), and married for 20 years to a woman, in my opinion, is the best person with the highest character, dignity, and presence of common sense I have ever known.

I tease people I am married to my accountant, my lawyer, my marriage counselor, my therapist, my best friend, my assistant coach, and nurse and the best thing of all I am not a polygamist.

:D

I love to read what you say about your wife - - a true inspiration! Maybe sometime we can get her to tell us a bit about her thoughts on you!

Married 10 years, somedays it seems longer and somedays I wonder where the time has gone.
Two boys ages 2 and almost 3 months.
Were in official ministry for the first 6 years, worked secular throughout entire marriage.
Now we're just raising kids and paying bills and teaching a home Bible study when we can.

Ronzo 12-22-2007 02:14 PM

Divorced and single. Was married for just over 4 years. Divorce was final November 6th.

Not comfortable with being single yet... but it's growing on me. It's certainly not the worst thing in the world to be single.

Hoovie 12-22-2007 03:37 PM

Married for over 15 years. We have three girls 4, 6, 8 yrs old.

Absolutely no Wife Swappin the first 14 yrs of our marriage.

I was married 15 years, have been divorced for the better part of 14 years, and was also in active ministry. We had two children who were raised my myself as a single parent. The children were 9 & 11 years old when we separated. My son lived with his father for 18 months at age 14 at his request and then came back to live with me the last two years of High School. My children are now married and one of them have two children.

I am still standing.

Blessings, Rhoni

SDG 12-22-2007 05:53 PM

Married almost 12 years.
Divorced in April of this year.

Proud and responsible father of two angels on loan from God.
Comfortably single but lonely at times.
