My Daughter Saved a Life this Christmas!

I can't go into too much detail for the sake of confidentiality, but while we were at my sister's in Indiana this week for Christmas, Ashley got a phone call from a 19 year old girl in another state who told her that she had just swallowed a whole bottle of pills! She was very lethargic and unresponsive, but Ashley was able to find out what city she was in and prayed with her over the phone. She called the local 911 and they somehow got in touch with 911 in that city, got an ambulance to her and got her to the hospital to pump her stomach.

Her family had no idea this was all going on, because no one could reach them. When the police finally called Ashley back and told her the girl would live, we all were rejoicing and so thankful that God had intervened and given her this opportunity to help. The girl has called her a couple of times since then to let her know that she is trying to find hope in Jesus, and get her life together.:santathumb

If Not For Grace (Clint Brown)

Where would I be
You only know
So glad you see
thru eyes of love
A hopeless case
an empty place
IF NOT FOR GRACE

That is what living a christian example is all about.

There are friends and co-workers of all of us (the Christian family) when they need help or a miracle they turn to our faith.

This is a great example of living a Christian example...

Good for Ashley! It's wonderful that she was willing to be there for someone in such desperate need.

And now, friends, can we all pray for this young lady? To be this down at Christmas must be a most horrible, horrible feeling. I, for one, will be praying for her beginning right now. As I'm sure many of you have already done - because you are a praying bunch! That's why I love ya all so much :santathumb

Sherri, please ask Ashley to let this girl know that people who don't even know her name are praying for God to touch her heart and give her peace and JOY.

Ron 12-24-2007 10:53 AM

Sherri, that is great!
Your daughter was in the right place at the right time for such a time as this!

I shudder to think what the outcome would be if Ashley wasn't available to be reached!

CC1 12-24-2007 11:03 AM

Sherri,

I know your daughter has to be so thankful she was able to help this young woman. I can't think of a better Christmas present than to know you saved a life.

Sherri,

You should be proud! Your daughter was quick and reacted exactly right. God Bless Ashley and help the girl she saved to find the help she needs in Christ.

Blessings, Rhoni

What an awesome Christmas story!!!!!! Praise God!! :D

Sherri 12-24-2007 07:39 PM

Thanks for all the kind words; I was very proud of her for the mature way she handled this. She was trained at Mercy Ministries for this very type of crisis, but it still was very emotional knowing that a life was hanging in the balance.

Please be praying for Ashley as well as she looks to her future and tries to see what the next step is. She has such a heart for foreign missions; I hope that she can find something that will match that passion when this nannying stint is over.
