My good friend Steve Willoughby

Courtesy of NLYP, I just got to talk to my good friend, Steve Willouhgby on the phone, after he finished preaching at BOTT. I was supposed to visit him in Singapore on my last trip to Korea, but he was with Barb in the states.

I know most of you know him and his style of preaching. He is a preaching machine and a man who certainly loves the Lord and a worshipper! Please continue to pray for Barb, his wife. They believe God has healed her and I am believing with them as well.

He and Barb and I were in ABI together. We had some awesome times.

Dan sent me a text that Steve was preaching and I told him that if he could get to him to tell him that I have been praying for he and Barb. Dan told me to stick close to my phone and he would let me tell him myself.

Dan the man DELIVERS!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Dan!!!!

Awesome! Glad you got to talk to them!

SoCaliUPC 01-10-2008 01:32 PM

MOW...what years did you attend ABI?

LaVonne 01-10-2008 01:34 PM

My husband talked to Bro. Willoughby a couple months ago when they were last in the States. Steve and Barb are some of the finest Christians we know!

HADDOCK 01-10-2008 01:35 PM

The Willoughby's are special people. My dad, Bro. Worrell, was pastor at the church where he grew up and our families lived across the street from each other when we were kids. I have to admit that at times I could have killed him and my brother! It's wonderful to see Steve's ministry, but boy could I tell you some stories about his younger days!

Not that it matters, but I was class pres. We had an awesome time. Bro. Norris loved me and the feelings were mutual. Got lots of good memories. :D

You came after my parents. My dad's family attended there until 1971. (Still have some lingering family there.) My mom attended ABI from 1969-1971.

Well, I didn't graduate high school until '72 but I didn't get saved until '76. :D

Dan sent me a picture of SW preaching, but my phone is unable to send pics so that I can post it.

HADDOCK 01-10-2008 01:43 PM

Steve had a good friend while he attended ABI that was from Australia I believe - can't for the life of me remember his name, but he would visit Tennessee with Steve. Anybody know about him now?

That would have been Greg Williams. From the land down under. :D

Well... neither of those names ring a bell. I'll have to think to ask Steve's sisters or his mom or dad. I can picture the guy just can't get a name.

However, it is not working like I hoped. See if you can email me the picture from your phone...if that is possible. It should be able to work then.

How grievous...in this picture, you can see that the annointing shining on MOW's youthful face...

Then to observe the shifty, degenerate look on his ravaged and compromising countenance all these years later...

I'm about to break down.

:(

Was a guy named Bob Gerbing there when you were there?

I may have spelled his last name wrong.

What further evidence of his degradation could we ask for?

The horror!

I remember hearing a Wiiloughby preacing Youth Conference back in the early 70's.

He was killed in a plane crash as I recall.

I have a book of his sermons somewhere called, "What time is it"

would that be a brother possibly, of Steve Willoughby ?

He went to my church here in Oak Creek, Wi. The UPCI church that I atteded up unto early 2007.

He came back after his last year to stay in WI.

He started working in the Johnson Controls factory with me.

After 2 weeks he showed up one day wearing and earing and had purple hair.

He then came out of the closet....

Sorry for bring his memory back to you...

The UPC church here in our area that my parents attend (pastor Raymond Woodward who I babysat when he was just a little kid :)) are simulcasting BOTT so I got to hear Bro. Willoughby speak this afternoon. He did a tremendous job as always. It was great.

Afterward we went out for supper with a group of pastors and their wives and are going back to the church in a couple of hours to hear Mark Johnston and Jeff Arnold speak. Looking forward to that! :bliss

Steve Willoughby is a great guy. He stayed in our home for several dayswhile they were on deputation a number of years ago now and we really enjoyed having him in our home. What an awesome couple and what a tremendous work for God they've done in Singapore!

No, Steve only had sisters, both younger than him.
