Countertops

I have been doing some research on countertops and seem to get a varied of opinions.

Between Silestone, Granite and Coran if you have used any of these what is your experience.

Surveys indicate that Granite scratches easily, as does Coran and Coran stain. Silestones shows seam lines.

I like a shiny surface and white because it lightens the room and has a clean look.

I see some are now going to stainless steel, but that scratches and makes noise.

I know formica is cheaper and is what I have now. So I need no input on that. :)

Thanks.

I think I saw something on one of those home design shows from HGTV that said that quartz is the better way to go if you're thinking of using granite.

I think they said it's more 'user friendly' without a lot of maintainance the granite requires, while still having a great look.

That seems to be what I am finding, PLUS the price is about the same it seems. I hope it isn't more. :(

I was under the impression it was less expensive. Maybe it depends on what area of the country you're in?

I have granite..... LOVE IT! Have NOT noticed it being easily scratched or hard to take care of.

How long have you had yours?

Try Canadian "Granite/Marble" mix counter tops.
They are durable, non-markable, & wipe clean with a wash cloth!
They also come with a "lifetime" guarantee!!

Some of the lifetimes I have seen is 10-15 years. :)

Whlie Granite gives you natural beauty. it also comes with a price...LOTS O MAINTENANCE!!!!! Silestone has a lot to offer with variety AND is maintenance free.
You can actually get formica with newer bevelled edged that matches what they do with granite, and they also have a sheen you can get applied...it really is beautiful for a fraction of the cost.

Still not interested in Canadian mix of "Granite/Marble?"

several years...... I guess I'm in the dark about the "maintenance" granite needs. We were told just to seal it every so often. I think they said once a year. Just buy the stuff at Home Depot and wipe it on.... maybe I need to call the man that did it, just to make sure. But mine looks as nice as the day it was put in.

How about a link? Is it alternating tiles if granite and marble? You've got me on the mix.
