Prayer for Guidance - Relocation Overseas
Please keep my wife and I in your prayers. We are considering a relocation overseas within the next two years. We need God's guidance and for the right things to happen. Thanks.
|
Will pray for y'all to follow God's will. I must say I will miss seeing your posts if you go.
|
why in the world would you go that?
sounds strange to me |

That's the difference between you and me, Seņor Marcos :) |
I wouldn't do it - i think it's a mistake
|
You could come visit me, St.Mark, start saving up now :)
|
Can you tell us where overseas? I would love to live in another country about half the year! Can't see that ever happening though.

WHERE overseas??? you're being kind of secretive what would be the reason for this ?? |

1 - Finances - we have to liquidate some assets and get rid of/sell some things - we try to keep our life simple for this reason 2 - Job situation - there are opportunities for teaching at international schools that will hire before we get there. Otherwise, we would need to move first, then find one. Obviously, the first is preferred. 3 - Church - there are numerous oneness churches in Santiago...we would like to become involved with the one that is God's will for us. I understand that Chile has a new UPC missionary; I was there before he came, so I never met him. 4 - Some of my family has similar reactions as StMark, but they're used to me by now, I think. Still, homesickness is a very real feeling, and it's not just me anymore. My wife and I are both excited about the prospect, though. 5 - Health - we would like to have more children, and can obviously not afford to fly back to the USA every time we have a kid. So good medical care and a job with insurance would be good. Jobs in Chile generally offer both. Not sure you asked for all that, but thanks for asking :) |

WHY would you get hostile reactions??? I don't get that a lot of snow birds move from north to south all the time |

you wouldn't catch me there trust me. I think you are crazy for going to chille. those south american countries are DANGEROUS. you really want to jeporidze your family like that??? they are drug infested and war torn and ran by dictators. there is very little civilty and people are often taken hostage from other countries |

Sounds like a great adventure! I love to travel and there are a few places in the world I would love to live in for a year or two. In particular England, Scotland and Australia or New Zealand. Unfortuentely in the last couple of years the company I work for has sold their operations in those countries to concentrate on Russia and Eastern European countries. |

But WHY? is it that they will miss you all or what? |

I wouldn't do it. you're putting your family in harms way and putting undue stress on your family in TX.
that's my final opinion |

I hear ya. I would move in a heartbeat. I live in a very small, one horse town with no industry or prospect of growth. I'm ready to go. |

absolutley NOT!!! |
Forget Santiego! Move to Algarrobo, Chile . It has the worlds largest outdoor swimming pool according to Guiness Book of World Records. 3,500 feet long!!!! Try to "swim laps" in that one.

I am not sure what part of Chile that is in but I saw a pic of the outdoor pool and it was pretty amazing. I believe it is on the coast because it looked like it was next to the Ocean. Then the question would be next to the Pacific or Atlantic ocean (depends on which side of Chile)! |

In the early eighties I spent 2 weeks in Santiago working for the minister of highways. The people and the food are wonderful. The wife and I will be returning for a vacation this March after leaving Br. and Sister Alvear in Brazil. If I was not called to pastor here I would retire in Chile. As far as churches go Br Alvear has a brother or uncle (not sure which) that pastors in Santiago. Good luck if you do move and remember it's not oversees I'm:shocked: One could :coolcar there. |
Sequins, when you were in Chile before did you meet the Well's? They were missionaries there for many years. He was my former pastor many years ago.
If you are interested I can PM you the website for their son's church. He pastors in Miami now. I'm sure he'd be glad to advise you, especially if you are considering Santiago. That's where his wife is from. All of her family still lives there. |

You're technically correct...however, there is the Darien Gap at the bottom of Panama that is dangerous and has no roads going through. I've actually considered bussing it down to Santiago from Texas...still deciding on that. You have to catch either a boat or a plan to get from Panama to Colombia. |
Praying for you...

Ok Brother... I will pray but my prayers are conditional (just kidding)... since you and your wife are considering leaving the area... When Sherri comes down to visit her daughter.. I am going to come out there to meet up w her and her daughter and Sis Cindy... so you and your lovely bride shall have to meet with us also so that we can see you before you skip the country........ Is this a deal?
And yes yes yes I will too be praying! |

Re: Prayer for Guidance - Relocation Overseas
Long road the last few months...we've put our house up for sale now, as of Thursday. Pray it sells quick! We'll be staying in the vicinity for the time being, but we need to get the big stuff out of the way!
