Spring vacation ideas?

So, we are both finishing up with our college degrees in 7 short weeks and plan on taking a vacation the 2nd week of March.

We were going to go on a cruise but were warned by a number of people not too because of the massive amount of "Spring Breakers" that will be out. Now we're looking at a 7 day/7 night trip to Jamaica. It is a couples resort so we hoping that means FEW "Spring Breakers".

Where ever we go, there will be beaches and palm trees.

Any idea's?

Bitter in Big D.

We were going to take a short vacation to....Dallas (where we live) and go to the Great Wolf Lodge for a few days. It is all of 10 minutes from our house.

the room rate is like $160 per night. but during spring break they jacked the rates up to $350 to $450 per night! They can keep their room and their water slide!

The cruises are a lot more expensive too during the whole month. I have no idea how all these kids afford it.

We were also looking at going to Atlantis (the giant Caribbean water park and resort) but that is unbelievably expensive as well.

I do too! Its stupid and you would think they would NOT do this their first year being opened here and so soon after their grand opening.. but who knows. I know of 4 other couples who have also changed their plans due to the rate hike.

This may be a good thing.... seems like too many of us Apostolics had made these plans! LOL!

I appreciate whoever fixed the title...that was really bugging me LOL

So what is the Great Wolf Lodge? Sounds like one of the many "Lodges" here in Wisconsin.

Or in our case, the beach!
We're looking at a great deal through Apple. 7 days and nights for about 1200 a piece -including airfare, meals, drinks, and "select" activities.

If you do a cruise during spring break time I would avoid Carnival as they appeal to a younger demographic and are considered more of a "party boat".

You could purposefully book with a line that appeals to an older crowd like Holland America.

I have had a lot of friends who travel a lot to warm places say that St. Maarten is their absolute favorite place to visit. Both the French and Dutch sides of the Island.

I am leaving next week for a few days in Hawaii (first trip there) then a 5 night cruise from Honolulu back to Los Angeles.

I have been on many cruises... The ship will be full and hold the same amount of passengers, spring break or any other time... The crowd might be a little younger in that time but no more crowded... On the stops you can pretty much predict what shore excursions the younger crowd will take... the booze and beach... The nicer shore excursions will be more available... I have been at both times...

I booked my spring vacation last night. Bought tickets to fly to San Francisco. My wife and I, along with 2 other couples are going the first week of April. We plan on visiting
Frisco and the Monterey peninsula.

RandyWayne 01-22-2008 08:19 PM

Things would be so much simpler (and cheaper) if we didn't have to take our vacation (last one we will get in several years!) in March!

Just our luck, they'll probably be filming MTV's Spring Break special wherever it is we decide to go. <sigh>

We just officially purchased our vacation last night. We're going to Jamaica (Ya Mon!) for 5 days in the 2nd week of March. It is a 5 star Apple resort for Couples Only AND all inclusive. So there should be NO Spring Breakers.

Sounds like a wonderful trip! I am now just five days away from my vacation and I can't wait. The past year was a very, very long one.
