Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?
I have an Aunt one year younger than myself, and my sister is one year younger than her. Later I had 4 Step-brothers- I did not have imaginary friends. My nephew held the longest two way discussion with himself. I worked with a man once who held argument so loud you thought there was about to be a fistfight- nope, Eddie simply planning his day!
How about you? Do you dare admit it, that you talked to yourself? |

Re: Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?
Absolutely NOT...
I have a grandaughter that had two of them. I jumped on that as quickly as I found out about it. Imaginary friends are too often an introduction to inauspicious spirits who very often become visible to their spiritual eyes with whom they very often develop an ominous relationship. OK, so call me crazy. There it is, for anyone who would want to seriously consder these words. If not.... OK. You are welcome to call me crazy anyway. |
Re: Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?
My nephew, Ethan, had a sawed-off broom handle that he painted a face on, and called 'him', "Cousin Ed."
He brought "Cousin Ed" to our house one night and said that he wanted to take him to our family picnic/reunion...I told him in no uncertain terms that he was NOT bringing that broom to our family deal...he just looked at me, but brought it anyway, leaving it in the car. But the funny thing was that night when he left our house, Ethan hugged us goodbye and left. A moment later the door slightly opened, he stuck the broom inside, and said, "Cousin Ed says goodnight!!" I was almost on the floor... |

I never had an imaginary friend while growing up. When I was young I thought that was odd, when I heard of it. lol

Re: Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?
I confess I did! I would ask my second Mom for treats for my friend as well. I was an only child at the time.
I have a great niece that talks with her imaginary friend all the time. She tells her Mom that her friend is always messing up her room. She likes treats for her friend, too. :) |

Re: Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?
I had an imaginery friend and I turned out just fine, Apprehended. I think it's a childhood thing. The more of a big deal parents make out of it, the longer the "friend" will be around.
Anytime I got in trouble for anything when I was a little kid, I would tell my mom that my friend did it, not me. One day she got wise and put my friend in a chair to sit because she had been bad. She made her sit there for a long, long time (she was imaginery, so it couldn't be considered child abuse. LOL) But it made me feel so bad that I stopped blaming my poor friend for what I had done. And little by little, my friend faded away. About a year after that, I tried a new tactic. I started telling my mom that my Aunt Dot did it whenever I got in trouble. Even if she was nowhere around. She was 10 years older than me. But I got her in lots of trouble. hehehe |
