An Unusual Circumstance

Yesterday was my week to greet folks as they arrived for Sunday services at Christ Church. Christ Church has about 10 different entryways to get into the church. The door where you greet is usually determined by what time you get there.

Well, I was running late this past Sunday because my MIL was staying with us and we had to wait for her to get ready.

I was given a door where few folks come in, so I told Mrs. Pianoman to go ahead and find a seat in the Sanctuary with her mother. I could handle this entrance by myself with ease.

I greeted and handed the church bulletin to several folks. I looked and saw a woman in her late 20's or early 30's struggling to open one of the doors to get in. I opened the door for her, and she immediately told me that she had something for me! For me? I have never spoken to this woman before!

She had her bible and another book in her hands. She said she felt led of God to give me this book to to me to give to my son. My son?? My son is in Iraq and hasn't attended Christ Church in about 5 years!

I was just about to tell this lady that she apparently had me mixed up with someone else! Out of curiosity, I grab the book to look inside of it. Inside the book was my son's name!!!! I freaked out! It was a very nice leather book with all blank pages!

One of our youth leaders had died in a car crash almost a year ago, and this lady said they found this book in his belongings. They decided that they should give the book to my son.

Get this! As she was getting ready for church, she said the Lord spoke to her and told her to bring the book to church because she would run into Justin's parents. Our church runs about 3,000 people per service! What were the chances that I would be at that particular door as a greeter?

I was blown away!

My son is in Iraq, and today I am sending him this very nice leather book to write in his daily memiors of his time in Iraq. I'm attaching a letter explaining how I recieved the book!

That is an amazing story, I got a chill as I was reading it! Some things are difficult to understand, but I definitely feel like God has a plan in this situation. I will be praying for your son, his safety and his spiritual situation.

Wow - - that's unreal.

That will mean a lot to him.

So, explain better - did the youth leader (the one that was in the wreck) buy the book for Justin and was going to give it to him?

That is really great! I love things like this. It is just another way that God lets us know He cares for the small things in life just as much as the big things!!!

I think so! Along with my son's name was a quoted scripture:

"We pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowlege of him, that the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling..." EPH 1:17-18

It was signed by the deceased youth leader. My son loved him,

Praise the Lord... I feel there is more to this story that is yet to be told.

Just more than a coincidence... God works in mysterious ways.

Amazing! Brought the words "divine purpose" and "divine providence" immediately to my mind.

You think that was coincidental or an accidental thing? No way! God knows where your son is and where he'll be in the coming weeks and months and the kind of situation he'll find himself in.

Getting this book will definitely let him know and give him assurance that God cares and knows what's going on if he believes at all in the sovereignty and omniscience of God.

Awesome!

I can not find the words to describe my feelings as I read this story. I suppose the best word is humbled. How wonderful our God is to us. He arranges us so that we can be blessed.

I have no idea!! That's what freaked me out! I've never met this woman before.

It's been over five years since we've had any involvement with the youth department, since our children are now all grown!

Thanks to all of you who were blessed by this story! :)
