Losing This Generation-Politics
More and more or should I say less and less people vote, especially young people. They are tired of the politics and the politicians. While the politicians make a lot of promises and talk a lot about integrity the rest of society don't believe them and see a lack of integrity. They are tired of the fighting, the lack of good candidates the division and partisan bickering.....
I wonder if that is why the church can't seem to reach the masses of unchurched young people...compared to how many are unchurched and yet believe in God our record stinks. They say the church is full of control freaks, hypocrites and manipulators. They see the politics and fighting for power. They are sick of the finger pointing and blame game going around. Nobody stands up and just accepts responsiblity rather than just passing the buck on to someone else... Sounds like Pentecost.... |

Prax,
Although not YOUNG... put me on the list of "Tired of Church Politics" as you describe!! |
Re: Losing This Generation-Politics
This is a bunch of bunk Praxeas. The youth are lining up to vote in record numbers. Time Magazine did an article on this titled, Year of the Youth Vote:
http://www.time.com/time/politics/ar...708570,00.html There are also countless articles on the internet on this growing demographic. You'll find plenty of articles on this all over the internet. http://media.www.thebatt.com/media/s...-3190772.shtml http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la...,1459190.story The youth vote is expected to be very important in this upcoming election. Overall they are expecting record number of voters, higher than 2004, which also reported what was then some of the highest numbers of voters. Who told you the youth weren't voting and that voter numbers were down? |

Sounds like Pentecost.... Prax, The exposure of political corruption is evident to more people than ever before. Yes the political arena today is sickening. However, when you speak of the church I don't think you're referring to "THE" Church. God's church is just fine. We have some local assemblies that have big problems, have some that are where they need to be. I see your point, but the Pentecostal movement has it's good and it's bad. Find the good stick with it & influence as many as you can. |

BTW I think half of what you post is bunk and worse, but I prefer not to go there in the interest of civil discussions :reaction |

When you think about it it is truly a miracle that any Republican is elected to office with the mainstream media and higher educational institutions all arrayed against them. |

I never spoke in sweeping generalizations. In other words I did not say it was ALL of pentecost, but sadly when people see it happening one place or experience first hand they can be turned off of the whole. It's not just Pentecost either though. It's all of Churchdom from the ministry down to the "laity"...and I think forums like this and all the bickering and disunity are just a microcosm of a larger problem. But shouldn't the church be different than what is happening in the world? |

They also have extended early voting from a courtesy extended to people who would be out of the county, state, or country at the time of an election to a period of time they can bus every welfare canidate they can find to the polls over several weeks to try and bolster the Democrat / Socialist vote. |
Re: Losing This Generation-Politics
The year I turned 18 is the year they changed the voting age. Yep it was Richard Nixon and some other guy. I voted for Nixon and didn't vote again until I was about 40.
