Any UPC churches on TV?

Does anyone know how the TV ministries are going now that the local UPC churches can broadcast?

I would think that at the very least that Alexandria and Stockton would be on by now. I don't see any reason why Alexandria couldn't be on world wide networks like Daystar. I saw some guy from Bastrop, LA on Daystar the other day and it looked like he was in his living room and the quality wasn't to good.

Does anyone know what the plans of these churches are?

I would think that Alexandria could find UPC churches all over that would partner with them to air their broadcast in local areas.

They can only have COMMERCIALS, not broadcasted shows.,, for the moment.

i was thinking that the amendment to only allow commercials was defeated and that the resolution allowed full broadcasts. am i wrong about that??

Huh, . . . I think they can broadcast. Let me see if I can look it up.

I don't have time to look it up but I am almost positive that television broadcasting is allowed.

I am just wondering who is broadcasting.

We are allowed to minister on TV and have shows, if we want.
The resolution to block this was defeated.

Re: Any UPC churches on TV?

I guess I thought that with all the live internet feeds and such that it would be such an easy transition over to television for churches like Alexandra.

With TV converting from analog to digital it should really lower the cost of air time because of the additional channels that will be available. I could see a chuch of their size broadcasting all over their state and maybe even into our area in Mississippi.

I haven't heard Harvestime on the radio here in a long, long time. Someone told me yesterday that the local Christian radio station refuses to allow them on now because the doctrinal differences are too vast.

I wonder what the chances are that they could run into something similar when trying to get on TV someday??

Re: Any UPC churches on TV?

I doubt the Alexandria church will be the first up on TV, you might want to look a little further to the west or up in Northeast.

Maybe they'll all be too wise to broadcast... maybe. :)

Isn't it funny, they passed the res. but know everyone is sitting back waiting on someone else to be first. I truley believe most only wanted to advertise.

Way too much hype was given to the whole ordeal IMO...

You might run into that on a "christian" station but I wouldn't think there would be much resistance on local channels unless the spots were already taken by other churches.

Our church broadcast goes into 140,000 homes via cable each week and the airwaves cover about a 70 mile radius. I pick up local stations from West Monroe, LA, Jackson, MS, and Little Rock, AR, so I was hoping to see what these churches would be doing. I would at least expect the West Monroe church to start broadcasting soon.

We were running commercials three years before the UPC allowed it with some success. The folks in our church never even realized there was a rule against advertising.

Many years ago I ran a christmas drama commercial not knowing it was sinful!!!! A man who hardly goes to church anywhere came to our drama and was mad that he saw the ad on HIS tv. I never did this again....yet:)

There isn't a Harvestime anymore. It is now Hope for Today. Been totally revamped and sounds nothing like the old HT. It is more like a radio Magazine type show now.

In your opinion, Mrs., what would be unwise about broadcasting on TV?

Maybe you've covered this on another thread, if so, please forgive my redundance.

Thank you for letting me know that. I thought I had heard something like that a while back, but couldn't remember for sure.

As much as I like our local Christian station, I have to tell you that I am disappointed in them for not allowing the UPC to have a program on there. IF this is really true. I don't actually know that it is.

I like the old Harvest Time program much better. Give me anointed preaching over a talk show any day. I listened to the new program one time and when I heard that part of the discussion was about sex I just shut it off. I guess I am just from the old school. I was expecting James Dobson to come on the program.

If the church doesn't talk about sex, who should? Why stick your head in the sand? The church should be talking about sex. Heaven knows the secular world is pushing their agenda.

The Church in Battle Creek, Michigan is on their local station. They have been on for three years now. I know personally that they have gained at least three complete families through the broadcast.
