A Couple Interesting Billboards

I was on the way to our sectional men's conference last night and again this morning and saw these two separate church billboards. They were bright red with white lettering. I apologize for the vernacular in the second.

Boycott JeffersonHills Church - Satan

JeffersonHills Church Sucks - Satan
:oops

An interesting way to get your church noticed though I am not sure I would have spent $ on them. Your thoughts?

Well I think I would stay away from that church. And not because of satan.

Wow... Not sure what to think... maybe a cute gimmick for young people but not overly classy.

Yes a twist to the God billboards I guess, very tacky was my first thought.

Brilliant marketing. Those are a thinking person's billboard. I imagine that church has a great outreach program.

Obviously subjective non-biblical standards aren't on the agenda.

Sounds a bit like one of those youth-orientated "radically saved" churches from the 80's. LOL

Re: A Couple Interesting Billboards

I would say they are trying to get across the idea that if Satan thought the church was bad, then that is where people should go, because the reasoning would be that it must be good if satan hates it.

Or is that obvious to everyone here? lol And not the point?

It was obvious and to the point but I just didn't like it at all and I am not really sure why. Just seems like another commercial or jingle. But then again maybe it speaks to something in my soul like I may have forgotten that satan is the enemy of souls. And that is scary. Thanks for this post TP.

You are correct. That is the point of the billboards. If Satan is against it, it must be a good church. :thumbsup

I was not questioning what the point was, but rather just wondering if this was a good method. Do you think it will be successful?

Re: A Couple Interesting Billboards

It just might be successfull TP since it kind of makes some people (like me) stop and think. Maybe it will bring souls into the kingdom.

Probably cause me to have a wreck. Been a long time since we drove where there are billboards. I had to stop and think for a while to remember what one is. :D

I do not like the term "sucks". If folks knew where that came from... whew! Anyway, I agree, it somewhat does not send forth a good "sound."

I've seen tackier outreaches, believe me. I guess in a pretty well churched area folks are tempted to do things to try and stand out.

Seems comical to me...

"Satan called. He needs a billboard. BTW, he's paying cash."

That word was probably what got to me too Bro. Mike at first. But thinking about it the point is really right on.
