Chimney Sweep Ornaments and Memorabilia

On another thread someone mentioned collectables.

I collect chimney sweep figurines of all kinds. They are rather rare in the US but they are out there.

If anyone finds any chimney sweep ornaments, figurines or memorabilia at garage sales or otherwise I would love to buy them. If we are talking $10 to $15 then I garrantee I will take them, but i have paid much more depending on the item and how old the article is etc.

SH,
That's very interesting. Could you post pictures of what you are talking about? I have no clue.

I'm just thinking of a huge broom from Mary Poppins. :toofunny

OK the sweeping brushes and tools... I collect those too - but only if they are antique. Mostly what i collect are carvings, steamers, nutcrackers, and all sorts of figurines. I have collected them from many countries... but basicly, if I don't have it - I'll buy it as I find them available. Here are a few of them.

PS... I am not a preist, a monk or celebate - please call me Steve, Stephen or Hoovie. Thanks! :)

Re: Chimney Sweep Ornaments and Memorabilia

So i started this thread and a retired chimney sweep found it through a google search... e-mailed me through the hooverhouse website and offered to sell the collection he had. He sent me pictures and we came to an agreement. he packaged them all very nicely and I recieved the big box about two weeks ago.

Sooooo.... here is the funny part!

I was taking each piece out and explaining to my wife what they were and where they were from. there were chimney sweep nutcrackers, steamers and other European chimney sweep collectibles. Then I unwrap a piece that turned out to be a Playboy beer stein! http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sel...s/1/PB1820.jpg

Well, I needed no explaining on that one! Just that I did not remember seeing THAT in the pics when I bought them! My chimney sweep friend said he threw it in at the last minute as a joke....

I gotta admit - I was shocked.

You need to come to Texas for the 100 mile long Highway 80 yard sale. If you can't make it I will gladly look for some for ya. :)

It wasn't like that. Kristin and I were not offended - just surprised. It was like the one in the link only all black. Very generic.

Sorry, I thought you meant like all that showing. To me Playboy stands for evil in this world. Sorry don't want to turn this thread into that Stephen.
Seriously I will look at the Highway 80 yard sale. Not all 100 miles of it, it's too hot for that. Whew, may just do some drive-by looking and if something catches my eye will get out and look.

I can't say I would drive to texas, but I always look for them. I was at a giant Texas flea market maybe 20 years ago... before I was collecting.

I would love to have you look. I will PM you my cell phone if you would like.

Anything with a chimney sweep and made in Europe is what I am interested in. Also made in USA and Asia - but they are less valuable.

No problem. There is a speciality shop in Mineola I think. Never know what you might find. I do watch BBC America a lot and they may have some links. Will check it out.

YES I have that one, but could always have another. :) I think I paid 30 $ for that one.

Also anything Goebel or Hummel is always worth a bit more.
