Country Music

I don't how any of you feel about it, but I like listening to country music. In fact, I just watched the CMT Music awards. I really enjoyed the music, but I do have one comment I'd like to make. You would think that with all the money these people are making, they would at least try to get away from dressing so cheap and trashy looking. I am not talking about wearing a nice fitting pair of jeans or anything like that. I am talking about these tacky looking outfits some of these guys wear and these cheap rhinestone looking dresses some of these women wear. Good Lord! Please! Get someone else to pick your stage clothes for you!! You still look like trailer trash that just found a used prom dress at the Goodwill! LOL! Have a little class about ya, for Pete's sake! Okay. Got it of my chest. :D:D

Holy Moly! Now I am watching another program with Martina McBride on stage. She has this practically see through white thing on. Who wants to look at that? I mean, she's still ok and everything, but she's spit out a couple of kids in the last couple of years. She ain't got no business flashin her figure on national TV!!

LOL, Rico, be nice to the MAMA'S!!!!!!

I agree, though--CMA needs to hire new stylists for their stars. Yikes.

Well yeah. After the first one blazes the trail, the ones who follow aren't nearly as difficult to free from what holds them bondage. :gaga

Did you know they have done studies of cities with major country and rock stations and the cities with major country stations have higher rates of alcoholism and suicide then those with major rock stations.

What a bunch of hogwash. LOL! That would be like trying to say that cities that have hip hop stations have higher rates of hoochi mammas! LOL! Sorry, Bro., but I don't believe stuff like that. Big cities have all types of radio stations and it would be ridiculous to try to blame that city's woes on any particular group of stations.

You do not have to believe it but they have statistic that say it. If the major station in the city is country their suicide rates tend to be higher. Bars that play country music sell more alcohol. These are just statistics but they do exist. I had heard it, read it, etc.. several years back.
I personally have never been a big country western fan but there are some that I like.

Country music has changed a lot over the last 10 years. It's really more like Southern Rock anymore. There really isn't all that much the wife left me the dog bit me I lost my truck and job today kinda songs being made these days.

Well, I think I am going to pop a DVD in, instead of channel surfing. I am gonna call it a night, folks. Later. :) Well, I better wait a bit.

Re: Country Music

Music tends to reflect culture as much as it influences it. I'd venture to say those statistics weren't checked out against other factors, such as marital status, income, etc. I wonder if the neighbourhoods who listened to country music were more affluent or poorer? Or middle class?

Stats are often slanted toward the outcome the statistician wants to project. It's like saying that bars with urinals tend to sell more drinks. It's probably more coincidence than fact. Which came first? The chicken or the egg? The suicidal tendency or the affinity for sad songs?

BUT: I will agree that music has influence. :) ...just not sure that I think suicides and alcoholism can be directly related to a certain genre.
