Lake Charles LA

Just wondering if there were some large communities surrounding Bro Ewings church.

Does anyone know how many he runs?

"some large communities" what do you mean by that?

Brother Ewing runs somewhere around or north of 500 I believe.

I thought he had a rather large congregation. But in looking at the map on-line last night I thought it said the population was only around 70k.

In my city we just learned from a new census we have 120k. We have 2 churches here and combined there lucky to average 150.

Kutless, I don't live in the Lake Charles area, but according to the UPCI directory, there are seven UPC churches listed for Lake Charles. There may be even more in the surrounding area.

It's saturated with oneness churches, that's for sure!

I can tell you the size of a city has little to do with the size of a church - unless we are talking a mega church.

Our church has 400 members and the city is just over 10k, with no large cities closeby.

I think this is great Bro Steve.

Most of the churches in Lake Charles run above 500.

Kutless, the Lake Charles area is somewhere around 150k or upwards of 200K when you factor in the surrounding cities.

Moss Bluff
Westlake
Sulpher
Lake Charles

are a few of them. in those towns, there are more like 15 or 20 Apostolic churches which would include UPCI, ALJC, and Independants that I know of.

many of these churches run between 500 and 750. the Lake Charles area has a pretty heavy Apostolic influence.

Brother Nugents church (they have a new pastor now as Brother Nugent is the Bishop) has a fantastic work at the local College. McNeese University Apostolic Student Union feeds somewhere around 600 students every wednesday?

I think we have at least 1 member of one of these churches who posts here.

Thanks. That was my suspicion but it has been too many years for me to guess at that.

Brother Ewing is awesome.

The area of the country makes a big difference. If someone expects the same results in Wyoming as Louisiana, they're going to be disappointed.

We don't live in LC, but not far from it. Also, my wife is from Bro. Ewing's church and still has family that attend there.

The number would probably be closer to the 700 mark for Eastwood. Great church, growing, probably a premier Apostolic Church.

Yes, there are about 6 other UPC churches in LC.
Bro. Massey (Livingway- formerly Bro. Nugent) runs close to 1000 if not more.
Bro. Ralston (1st Church) runs close to 500 if not more.
Bro. Ewing (Eastwood) runs about 700 and their daughter work runs close to 100.
Bro. Mahoney (Moss Bluff) probably between 200-300. Bro. Phil Jones attends here, he would be able to give more accurate count.
Bro. Treece (Apostolic Temple) probably about 400-500.
Bro. Hasty- Estimate about 300.
Bro. Stanton (Westlake) Estimate 300-400.

Truly there are many more churches around LC. Totally saturated with Oneness UPC!

And most of them are pretty good size. DeQuincy, LA, which is just a few miles away has 2 large UPCI churches. (Actually, there are 3--which I recently learned--but I think number 3 is on the smaller side.) DeQuincy's population is about 3200 according to Google.

I know a LOT of churches in LA in small communities that run 100 or better, and a large number of them run 250 or more.

Yep! And here in the Tulsa metro area (Bible belt no less), churches are lucky if they run 100-200. Crazy.

Then there are the ALJC churches. I know of one in the Sulpher area that was around 600 some time ago.

brother Alvear has a good independant (AMF?) church in that area too that is also quite large.

Lake Charles is not to far from New Orleans, not close like Phoenix and Mesa AZ but still not far.

but then again LA is a big 'Pentecostal' state.

Per capita, I would bet on some place in Louisiana. if you count small towns, i would stack DeRidder, and DeQuincy up against just about any other area.

DeRidder I believe has either in town or within 5 miles of town 11 that I know of for sure. I think there are maybe one or two more that would claim some sort of "Apostolic" heritage.

there are about 13K people there.

DeQuincy has within 5 miles, 5 or 6? I think the population is no more than 6K.

13 years ago, TFT told me that Beauregard Parish La. (where DeRidder is) had 40 Apostolic churches that he could count with a population of thirtyfive thousand.

Bro, Lake Charles are on the opposite sides of the state. I think about 4 hours?

Guess it just seems smaller. it was like little city after little city when i drove between the two a few years back. almost like driving the coast from north florida to south it seems like you have a non stop city but yet they are many little towns in between bigger ones.

sorry i made the mistake

Does anybody know what churches are in NY, NY. I only found 2 in the Manhattan area, and they were both small - running 150-200 tops
