How do you pronouce this?
 

I keep seeing the acronym for Church of God in Christ: COGIC

And because it's so long I keep trying to make it into a word instead of initials.

Like with UPC, I say 'You Pea Sea'.

And with COGIC, I say Caw-Jick. But that may not be right.

Should it be Co-Jick?

Or Saw-Jick? Or Saw-Gick?

When I was a kid I did that. Would stand outside the church which had the name of the church and UPC in big black letters. Now that they have added the I it's just not the same.

I listen to Bishop Patterson every week. He says "caw jick." I have never heard it "co-jick" Sometimes "caaw jick." With a drawn out aaaa.

Co -jik (with a long O). At least that's the way it's always pronounced around here, and we are only 1 hour from their headquarters.

I used to refer to the UPC as the oooooopseeeeee church! This was back when I actually believed all that nonsense about everyone going to hell except the people who went to, or were fellowshipped by, the church I attended.
