Our Church on TV!! A soldier's homegoing!

As I told you last week, a boy from our church lost his life in Iraq last week. Here's a news clip of what transpired today.

He was a great young kid! what a loss.

close to 1,000 people came out today to honor him. what a homegoing it was! our choir truely left a lasting impact too.

One of our local TV stations did coverage on our service today!

I'm still shaken up over this event

To watch a good kid grow up in the church and then die in the war is just... I don't know how to put... depressing. I sat and thought about where we are as a nation today, what is becoming of us, where are we going, etc. and now that the adrendain rush of the excitment of the service is over, I feel the impact all the more.

Wow you even had the major there. Kind of sad(actually very sad), but you all did such a great job with the choir.

The church rallied and went beyond the call today.

People really do when there is a cause don't they?

It's something how hard times brings the better side out of us humans

The choir was great Mark, and Sgt. Gasper was a hero.

There is just something about a person dying that puts everything into perspective.

This story, like so many others, was just gut-wrenching to watch. The sacrifices this young man made for our country with doing four tours in just six years in Iraq must have been difficult for him and his family.

That was a lot of time to be away from such a young wife.

So sad. Did the governor cancel his attendance?

Mark, this truly is such a tremendous tragedy and as Americans, even though we didn't know him, it's a loss for all of us. When one of our own, sacrifices his or her life in the act of service for our country, it's a loss for the entire nation. May the Peace of God which truly does go beyond all human understanding, be with you, this family, your community and all who were so heavily impacted by this terrible loss.

Also, right along with the sentiments of so many others, the work with the choir was anointed and a fitting tribute to a fallen hero. God bless you my Brother.

I read on a myspace or blog where his wife said she was excited about the governor and his wife attending. That's too bad he wasn't able to be there.

Your choir was great, as always. I'm sure your church made the community proud.

St. Mark, I have not had a chance to watch the video yet but will. I am so pleased that your church honored this young man and his family this way.

It is young men like him willing to put themself in harms way that has sustained this country for over 200 years.

I am so sorry he lost his life in that endeavor but if you have a chance to tell his family let them know that many, many Americans are thankful for his sacrifice and that it was not in vain.

It was a beautiful clip and wonderful service... I know it hurts to lose one of your own but what an honor to be able to honor him in this way

I dont think I can get it if it was on nightline but either way I will keep looking. I am gonna look at the TV guide and see if there was something else too I might have flipped to and seen it.. The clip looked exactly like the one you showed w the choir director going at it!
