Yes, we have a brand new member of our large extended family. We just "got" him this past Tuesday.

Very very little sleep this week...........

By the way, his name is Rocky.

What a cutie!

We have Elvis (black haired mutt part cocker spaniel) and Bonnie (one of the 15 puppies our sons dog had a few months ago).

We also have living permanently at our home Lucy (mutt that looks like a possum)that is technically our granddog but has lived with us since the first two weeks my daughter got her from the pound abut five years ago and then Roxie, my sons large mutt (part Boxer, Great Dane, and heavens knows whate else).

Two are yard dogs with occasional house priveleges and two are house dogs. We are hoping to eventually get down to two dogs through the circle of life. LOL!!! I have threatend all of my relatives that I will kill them if any bring us a new dog to replace any that die.

Cats aren't that bad if your used to having a woman around. Both do their own thing and don't care what you think about it. By the way RW, cute gerbel:tic I mean pup.

He is just over a lb and a half right now but should get between 16 and 20 as an adult. He's a Lhasa puppy.
But, Hermes the border collie is between 55 and 60 lbs. He's the "big dog" of the house.

They are both adorable.

How are y'all adjusting to the new climate?

Hot. First week we've been here where there temps have reached over a 110 several days in a row.

But the AC is holding up! (And we only have it set for 78.)

LOL I am not much of a dog lover, I just tolerate him because he belongs to my daughter. I do admit he is cute.. that's a lot for me.

I don't know if it is the Lhasa or the Poodle part of him, but the skin is sooo sensitive. When he gets flea bitten, we deal with the allergic reaction all summer.

We are wondering what to do for our St. Bernard, Texas summers are brutal. She is not a house dog. She does have shelter and she pretty much stays there, except to come out to drink water and eat.

When it gets hot, they need plenty of water. When it gets REALLY hot (well over 100 degrees), they need plenty of water, AC, AND to stay inside. Our dog loves Frisbee and we play a few times a day but I have to make him stop after 6-8 throws and go inside. His hair is hot to the touch after 10 minutes.

I am going to watch her for dehydration and probably bring her inside during the hottest part of the day. Trouble is I really don't have a good place to put her. Bless her heart, she is not housebroken.

You can get a small window unit for less than $100. Should be plenty for a dog house.

She is actually in a former goat pen next to the chicken pen. She has seemed fine the last few days, but it is going to be getting hotter here soon. I am thinking we should get her a good dog house and an A/C unit. She of course doesn't have her winter coat but her fur is still thick to me.
