Anyone ever been to a baseball game in Dodger's Stadium

I am going to be making a trip to LA to visit family in late April. My brother wants to take us to see a baseball game between the Dodgers and Giants at
Dodger stadium. Any of you ever been to a game there?

Come a little south and see the national league west champs in a much nicer park.

Monkeyman 03-23-2007 09:22 PM

Been there MANY times. Our family always made a few games every season. My dad took me to the 78...77?? World series against the Yankees. Sat in the cheap seats! Went to the last game the year that they set a record for four players hitting 30 dingers in a season. Dusty Baker hit his 30th on the last game of that year.
They have made some great upgrades to this CLASSSIC baseball stadium.
Here are a few tips.
1. Have sunscreen ready.
2. Eat a Dodger Dog.
3. Take a radio wiith you to listen to Vin Scully call the game, wow!
4. Leave the game early to beat the crazy traffic, he he!

Take a deep breath and finish your coffee. Is Scully still doing all the games or has he cut back?

Jerry Coleman only does about a third of them.

I believe that the only sport God sanctions is football so I have only been to one professional baseball game and that was to watch the Cubs at Wrigley field.

Now you are getting close to blasphemy my friend...just take a walk through memorial park at Yankee Stadium and I promise you you will not leave there the same person as you walked in...it was a religious experience for me then to watch a game there...wow!

I bean to...

Yankee Stadium
Shea Stadium
Fenway
Veterans Stadium
Wrigley Field
Dodger Stadium
Coors Field (of course)
PacBell Park
Oakland's dog-patch
BOB (Bank One Ball park)
Candlestick Park

Well, I compromised and went to a Braves game last year because I had free tickets. Other than the guys setting in the bleachers in front of us that were probably drunk before they got there, and drank like fish through about 4-5 innings before disappearing never to return, and having to smell the stench of their beer, it was a good time.

Needless to say, it was the only baseball game I will ever attend.

Hesetmefree238 03-24-2007 01:11 PM

Thanks for all of the info guys. I've been to a couple of major league games in my life, but I live a long way from California, so have never been to a game
there. My brother is a big Dodgers fan. He lives in Riverside, CA. We all like
sports, so we thought it would be a fun thing to do while on vacation.
As for attending sporting events and being in the UPC, I think in my district it would be fair to say that sports are not preached against by very many preachers. I know a lot of pastors that occassionally attend. The first time I attended a game (college football at Neyland stadium) I felt a little uncomfortable because when I first got in church it was still frowned upon, however once I went to the game, I realized that I was setting beside the same people that we would see in a restaraunt or Wal Mart for that matter,
and I have had a clear conscience about it every since.

I've only been to one minor league game..it was much tamer than you describe.

I've turned down free tickets to the Iowa Hawkeyes FB games the last two years.

Not a spiritual conviction..I just don't like crowds.

To sit amidst a bunch like you endured, smokin' drinkin' and a yellin' would not have been to my liking either.

We were in a section that only had us and these ruffians. After they left, we had about 20 rows of empty seats in front of us, and I had a nice time with my family. It was that 4 or so innings that put the blot on it. I still wonder if my wife prayed until they left. :toofunny

Salivita ... what my Grandpa and my dad used to call Williams because he would spit in your face if he had to make his point ... was among of the best of the best ... his eyes were so good that he claimed to be able to see sparks that were generated by foul balls off his bat ....

Gwynn could flick a ball to left field at will .....

Honorable mentions to players of the last few decades must go out to Rose, Brett, Molitor, Murray

Williams and Padre announcer Jerry Coleman were ace fighter pilots in the Korean 'conflict'.

Wasn't William's last at bat a homerun??

SDG 03-24-2007 06:35 PM

Yep ... and the last time he hit 400 .... I think he was given the opportunity to sit down by his manager ... because he was borderline .... and refuse and went something like 4 for 5.

SDG 03-24-2007 06:35 PM

It's rumored that he was going to be dealt to the Yank for Joe Dimaggio.

The year he hit .405, it was figured out if he played today, with the base-on-ball counted as a none at bat, Williams would have hit about .411! He was the best.

Not bad power numbers too. Especially when one realises that the war took him in his prime.

How was he defensively? Gwynn was a gold glover several times. A very good rightfielder.

SDG 03-24-2007 06:52 PM

In his early years ... he struggled ... I think it delayed his being called up ... he was solid ... as a leftfielder ... overall
