I thought it didn't matter what was said in the tank?

"Bam" would be perfectly acceptable to many on AFF.

Re: BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

PastorA, that would be acceptable to many AFF posters because they do not believe baptism plays any role in the New Birth process, and is therefore an unnecessary hindrance to real revival.

Because they view it as unnecessary, they really don't care what is said if someone, for some unknown reason, decides they may want to get wet.

Personally, I hate it. It is reprehensible.

BUT, do I really want to harshly judge a BAM!er if I only offer a forgiving pass at what happens in our own circles...

it's something to think about.

Bro PP, I was rollin' on the floor laughing, but I doubt that even one "One Stepper" on AFF, would say that that nonsense is acceptable.

I believe that those who are justified by faith shall live. But I never stop there.

I always tell converts to turn from their sins.
I always tell converts to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
I always tell converts to let Jesus baptize them with the Holy Ghost.

Maybe you could do a poll to see what everybody on AFF believes?

From what I have read about Bentley, he has many disturbing New Age beliefs that needed to be exposed. Bentley claimed to travel "out of body" to where he has had conversations with Abraham and Jesus and where he witnessed to a witch doctor. These out of body experiences where a person communicates with beings and deceased people have been clearly condemned in the bible.

9 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in [a] the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Deuteronomy 18:9-11

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR_EHWbc9c0&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evMjS4KMv3Q&NR=1

This practice was made famous by Shirley McClaine (sp) back in the 1980's. The same New Age spirit that took her on her cosmic trips has guided Bentley! His focus on angelic beings, specifically Emma his guide, was another red flag that he represented a New Age gospel and not the true gospel of Jesus Christ. He mentioned on his website in December about Emma, "When she came, she began to mentor, nurture and opened up a prophetic well. The people in the church began having trances and visions and the pastor began getting words of knowledge and moving in healing."

The following was copied from this link http://www.apostasyalert.org/REFLECTIONS/bentley.htm.

He imparts his Emma spirit on the young people who come up for a touch. He flings the evil spirits upon them while yelling, "blah, blah, blah, blah" – whatever he means by that – and culminates it with slaying them in the "spirit" with the word "BAM!" [see link for example ] Why would he scream "Bam" over people? A clue is in his own words taken from the "The Secret Place" CD of the Fresh Fire conference referenced earlier. Bentley said:

"We’re like little chickens. We’re pretty defenseless and sometimes we’re just going through life pecking away… and then the wolf comes and we don’t even see it coming. Bam! He’s got you!"

Colossians 2:8, 18-19 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. 18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize.
Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. 19 He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.

yeah he said Jesus' name first, then he invoked the titles. i guess that's one way of doing it.

As for the topic of this thread, I find the whole thing to be troubling and saddening. This is the stuff that the Bible talks about in the last days. Those folks are deceived and I hope they join a church where they can be taught the truth of God's Word.

Rico 07-11-2008 12:27 AM

Re: BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess when he yells out BAM, it signifies him releasing the power of God on someone (in his mind anyway). That part doesn't really bother me all that much. It's the things someone posted about him letting Emma into his "ministering" I find troublesome. That, and the fact he baptizes using the titles.
