On the lighter side....

I'm going to Silsbee, Houston, and Galveston, next Friday on vacation with my hubby and the kids.

I've worked my tail off and I deserve a few days away.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what to do?

Why Houston??? it's a swamp @ this time of the year.

Galvastan is very run down - no offense to the Houston
folks but I wasn't impressed at all. the water is murky
and brown.

Why not go to Branson, Orlando, California, or camping?

Sister, tell your husband he's missed around here. He made a lot of good posts back in the day. In fact, one of his posts went a long way to helping me let go of the bitterness that got hold of me after I left the uc crowd I had been associated with. Have fun on your vacation! :)

Because we are going to preach for Steadfast. Also, my kids love Bro. White and his family.

We love the Beaumont area and we are going to be with the Whites. We gave the boys choices of what to do and they chose to go be with the Bishop and his family.

They treat better than we deserve to be treated and always have so much fun. They are awesome people.

I want to go to Houston to shop and eat at Fogo De Chao!!!

I love that place it's awesome.......I only have to wait 6 days.

Also, not too sure if this is a good thing or not.....:evilglee I get to meet Dan Christensen and his good wife. (his wife is good, not too sure about him.:ursofunny)

Yea I'm aware that there is a big get together going on down there
and I think that's probably better for the kids and the entire family.
Isn't there a youth camp going on to?? That may have passed
already not sure.

Galveston obviously means a trip to the beach. Go a couple hours before sundown - there's less cellulite on display and the angle of the setting sun will make your pictures more dramatic.

Some places you can have a cook out around a campfire on the beach at night. That's way cool for the kids.

Have a great trip.

John Robert had a fit the other day and said, "Dad, do you always have to preach? We'd like some time to.......have fun you know. We don't have to be "HOLY" all the time. We need time to be ourselves."

We like to have killed over laughing. He was so serious. It was a HOOT!!!!!

We'll be doing some fun stuff mixed in with the preaching. We'll go swimming in the ocean, going shopping, horseback riding.....that kind of thing.

I introduce Kristin to that joint a couple weeks ago. I love that place!

Have fun. In lieu of short pants have the brethren roll their pants up a bit - it's the same thing. :)

Have a great time.

Re: On the lighter side....

There is an awesome Mexican restaurant in Galveston where the main street ( if you stay on I-45 and pass the Strand) intersects with the Seawall. It is on the left at that intersection and I believe is in a white building. It has rooftop dining and some of the best Mexican food I've ever tasted. We stay at a Bed&Breakfast there at times.

Lady--
Hope you have a wonderful trip and have fun with the Whites. My brother is in Samoa preaching, so I doubt if he'll get to join you. I know he would enjoy it though.

Actually, Dan is MUCH more dramatic than Mark could ever be. I know that sounds funny, but have had some contact with Dan the last few months and let's say....Marky couldn't hold a candle to Danny. (No offense meant to Dan, he knows he has a flair for the dramatic.!!!):whistle

You can also tell him that for me also.
I've enjoyed his posts (even though I did not agree with some of the things he wrote).
I miss him and his words of wisdom.

Yes sir, he was rolling on the floor (almost) laughing his head off. It was really funny. John Robert was most upset to think that his "vacation" was going to be interupted by preaching.

It was too funny.
