Curse words

Be honest do you curse? If so what do you consider cursing? Just 4-letter words or the sissy cursing? I don't expect everyone to answer honestly here. I will though. It is on a very rare occasion but I say curse words. Nothing terrible like f words or GD. I hate those. But I am just being honest. Again it is on a VERY rare occasion that one slips. What about you all?

I excpet Elder Epley to tell us he is a closet curser. LOL

I've been known to let the "s" word slip out from time to time when I blade a golf shot! :) It comes out before I think!

I am not really trying portray myself as perfect person....but I really don't cuss. And I very rarely use sissy cuss words....because I have been taught they are the same. And if you use those words....guess who picks them up...your children. And they will use them when it is the MOST embarassing!

For the record, my kids and grandkids have never heard me cuss! :) Mrs. Pianoman has though!

when I taught Kindergarten I had a student come up to me and say, "Mrs.D, Walker used the 'Q' Word!!!" I stood there and went over every bad word I could think of, and I certainly wasn't going to ask what the word was, so when the accuser of the brethren's mom came to pick him I whispered what happened and I said, "see if you can figure out what the 'Q' Word is....

Sure, But I think what most people consider a curse word is wrong.
Scripture speaks of several types of words, "curse, idle, doubt, un-belief, filthy communication."

So a "S#@T, may be "filthy communication" but it is not a curse word. And as far as how God would judge words unbelief is the worst words that can be spoken.

Consider the 10 spies. The nation was plunged into 40 days of doubt/unbelief because of them and paid for it by 40 years of wilderness experience.

I have to admit, I probably "think" certain words more often than I should.... but I rarely, if ever officially "curse". Once you break the habit it isn't even something that I struggle with anymore.

I agree. I might think a curse word more than say them.

I get ya. It can be a condition of how you were raised. If your parents curse greater chance you might too. I am very careful around my 2 yr old and wife. Mrs. Tullock has only heard a dirty word from me maybe 3 times. My wife also considers pi** a curse word with I grew up using. So take that for what it is worth. I really think it is al human. Not everyone curses but we are human and prone to mistakes.

No, I just wanted to keep you in suspense like I was for whole night after the incident... The mom came in the next day and with tears STREAMING down her face from laughing said she had to talk to me outside...

She said, "I asked him about the word this morning, it was Qwrap"
(say it out loud)

That was 9 years ago and I still laugh about it!

Did the kid's name begin with an "F" and end with an "e-r-d" by any chance? :evilglee

When I attended a Christian School we were not permitted to use "by" words... Shoot, Heck, golly-gee... that was grounds for a demerit, our teacher was very serious about it. I had come in to 10th grade fresh from the world and it was a difficult transition!

That reminds me of the time when I was 7 years old, and I went to the kitchen table with my plate while mom and dad were entertaining an evangelist. I told mom that I wanted something that started with a "T". She looked around the table and couldn't see anything that started with "T". Finally ,I said "Taters! mashed taters!" My mother was so embarrassed and said, "Son, they're called PO-totoes!" Of course I followed up and said, "We've NEVER called them PO-tatoes! We always called them TATERS!" :ursofunny

Re: Curse words

My husband used to use the word pi** all the time, which I thoroughly disliked, and complained until he stopped. LOL!!!! My main point, "Do you want the kids to say it?" He didn't think it was a curse word (or bad word), though, and still doesn't.

I've had to break several bad habits regarding the sissy words, like cra*, screwed, etc.

I can say I don't use the bad words...BUT...:D One time Jeff and I had a big argument, and I let a really, REALLY bad word fly, mostly for shock value. He looked at me like I had grown 15 horns, and looked really disgusted, and then I was just embarrassed. LOL!!!

Kids will inspire you to clean up your mouth, because they repeat EVERYTHING.

I have to say, my family, well, foul language is not really frowned upon, except for maybe the F word, and some of the really obscene language. I'm changing that in our house!!!! (Mostly my Dad's side--I've never heard my mother use any kind of bad word, sissy, slang or otherwise.)

One of our kids had a bit of a problem with certain phonetics. The "s" sound, in particular. Came out like "f". Needless to say, we tried to use the word "lollipop", rather than "sucker", around him! :ursofunny

If my wife cussed at me in an argument it would probably defeat the purpose. I would probably bust out laughing.:ursofunny

My daughter told on her bigger brother once for saying the "s" word. I was shocked that he knew it and especially that she would know it was wrong.

I asked her to tell me what the word was and she wouldn't do it - - finally I convinced her it was okay to whisper it to me......it was shut up. Whew!

Wow...provocative subject. I'll come clean too...having been in the military I've occasionally (rare occasions) dropped a few verbal bombs when upset. But like you, I never use the name of Jesus as an expletive or say GD.

Oh, I hate to be laughed at (when I'm upset)!!! LOL!!!

When I was a kid I couldn't say my "r" sound, and it took a lot of work for me to get over that. Well, when I get upset or frazzled, sometimes I forget my "r's"--and when I do, it's too much for Jeff to handle. He thinks that is the funniest thing EVER!!!! :club

I told on my aunt one time for saying the F word. She was a lot younger than my mom and lived with us for a while when she was a teenager.

We had missionaries staying with us, and I rushed into the room in front of them and told my mom that my aunt had said the F word! She was upset and denying it, and I started crying, insisting she was lying! My mom finally pulled me to the side and had me whisper what she had said.

The big bad "F" word...Fart!! :lol :lol :lol
