Earphone translators to use in church
 

My pastor has asked me to look into getting some headsets to use for interpreting our services into Spanish. To clarify, these are the kind where the translator sits in a booth and the people sit in the pews and listen while the preaching is going on..much less distracting than having another person shouting in the front of the church :) We're wanting to start off with 5 or 6 at first. Recommendations?

we have the ones that go in you ear instead of over your ears and the problem is if they know a little english its hard because the can here both speakers.

I hear that the set Peter Popoff and his wife used are available on ebay.

Just bought two sets of Nady off of ebay - 200 for the transmitter and four receivers - extra receivers are about 50 per. It's the 800 series which transmits on the assistive listening fm band.
Musiciansfriend.com carries the PEM500 - actually designed as an in the ear monitor but used for translation. Multiple frequencies etc - had a sale - 200 for transmitter and 1 receiver, 50 for extras.

My dad did this for Christian Life Center when it was 1st UPC back in the 70's.

he used a radio shack small mixer, headphone jacks, cheap headphones, and a cheap mic, it probably cost him no more tha $50 at the time....ol' school baby!!!

Save the money and buy your music director a better guitar:) *I'm just sayin'*

Yeah we use them too. They work great, but like a previous poster said they can her both so generally when the preacher asks for an amen there is no delay or an echo there. lol

We tried this. Honestly I think the best solution is to have a spanish preacher start a spanish ministry or daughter work.

They still don't understand the songs. They feel conspicuous too with the headphones on. But if that is all you can do then it works.
